I don't know where you live, but all the kids in our family, my own and neices and nephews, have gone to Village Children's Center in Los Osos. It is one of the few accreditted pre-schools inthe county. This last year there were kids from Nipomo and San Luis in my daughter's class.
It isn't a Christian school (even though it's at a church).
The staff is great! Most of them have been there for years and the kids really have a great time and learn alot.
You can check it out on their website.
Good Luck.

A good source to try is www.slocountymommies.com. You'd need to register but there is a great list of the pros and cons of all preschools the mommies send their kids to. Lots of other good info about mommying in general too.

While it's not a Christian school, I have found that Tiny Tigers at San Luis Obispo High School has a quality program. Three of my four children have attended. The "teachers" (teenagers) are caring, really want to be there, and are involved with the children. The ratio of students to teachers is about 1 1/2 to 1. Two 'buddies' are assigned each week... a buddy is a high school student that will stay with a child the entire time if the child is having a hard day/week. Also, there are usually 3 or 4 young men (very nice and respectful young men, I might add) that sign up to be teachers, so the Tiny Tigers learn from 'men' and 'women'. The program runs Tues., Wed., and Thurs. The fall trimester is usually only a morning class. In the past there have been morning and afternoon sessions for the other two trimesters. The cost is beyond reasonable ($180 a year for materials!!), but may be raised due to budget cuts. Oh, and I suppose it could be a program that is cut alltogether with the CA budget stuff going on. Also, the long-time SLO High Teacher/director, Mrs. Waterbury, retired this year so the program may change a bit. All in all, I still would recommend it to anyone in our area wanting (a) a limited preschool setting, (b) caring teachers that are interested, involved, energetic, enthusiastic, you name it! Oh, and one of the best perks for a busy person or on a rainy day: You drive up to the preschool, they come to get your child while you sign your child in, and then you drive away. The reverse happens when you pick up your son. I felt welcome to visit the classroom and meet the teachers. They each take a turn being a 'director' or 'co-director' for a week... planning, making assignments, etc. If I remember right, it's an ROP program. If you are interested in signing up, contact the High School soon as the firt trimester may already be filled. God bless you with whatever school you choose for your son!
