Preschool "Computer" or Language Toy

My daughter is very interested in letters right now. She loves to sing her ABCs and point out the letters she knows in books, on signs, etc. She also enjoys "typing" on my computer. She's turning 3 and my MIL would like to get her an electronic educational toy that focuses on early reading/language development for her birthday. Any recommendations? What about that ClickStart My First Computer by Leap Frog? I'd like it to be something that is age appropriate now, but that can grow with her. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I liked the leap frog phonics desk. Lots of different stuff to do, three letter words, sounds, letters etc. I am not a t.v, video person so this was great. There is just a little screen that kids can re write the letter(s) on.

Our in laws have bought our son the Leap Frog interactive tv game and the fisher price computer game. I like the LF because the console is like a laptop and you can sit on the floor and it has changeable cartridges for different learning and it works off the tv. The FP is nice, but you have to hook it install in on a computer and then the 'keyboard' fits over the standard keyboard. Both have different levels of learning that go up to 36 mo.

Another good and much cheaper option is the DVD "letter factory" by Leap Frog-it helps kids learn the sounds letters make.

We bought my daughter the Fisher Price Computer Cool School. She just loves it! You can actually write the letters and numbers on the keyboard with a mouse 'pen'. You can play musical intruments and all kinds of awesome learning things! We actually had the Leap Frog computer first and she didn't like it as much. The mouse didn't work all the time and she would get frustrated and then the whole thing just stopped working. I would recommend the Fisher Price computer!

My daughter is 3 1/2 and last year for Christmas she got the ClickStart My First Computer by Leap Frog from santa. She was very excited that it was a computer, it came in pink, and there was a mouse. She is getting use to the mouse but at first it was hard for her. My only complaint is that the mouse does not slide very nice on the mouse pad but otherwise the games are fun for her. It comes with three games and you may buy more cartridges which are around $20.00
