Hi, my child will be three in September and I am trying to find a good preschool. It could be full-time or several days a week for a couple hours. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Its hard to say because it depends on where you live. It may help first to think about where (location) you want to go. Do you want your child to go to school closer to your home or where you work?

Look in the yellow pages for places, call for pricing and go visit. Make two trips one by appointment and one without, so you can see what goes on when they are not expecting company. Many daycares accept ACD so they will go by your income if money is a concern. As people you know with children around the same age as your child and also at your doctors office.

I believe there is a daycare on 180th near Southern Blvd that is run by Cardinal McClosky and you may want to try St. Rayond's and St. Helena's in Parkchester. There are actually a few places in your area.

wonderful preschool that is a bilingueal program. My daughter is there and my older daughter went there for 3 years. The school is like a small family and they offer financial aid.
Best of luck

I enrolled my daughter when she was around your son's age at a very nice daycare called B-Happy Family Group Daycare. It is in a three family house with the daycare on the 1st and 2nd level. The address is 615 Southern Boulevard. The young lady to contact, who by the way is very nice, is Bernadette. The contact number is ###-###-####. My daughter, Amani loved the place and the people.

I hope this helps.

Many families send their child to St. Helena's which is around Westchester Avenue/Unionport/Odell/Olmstead..I'm not sure of the cross streets. You can see if St. Raymond's has a program. They are all academically based, so they do not provide any child care, so be prepared to pick her up if she soils herself. Check it out. I live in Bronx also, but my daughter goes to The Ascension School (108th Street and Broadway)in Manhattan. They also require your child to be fully potty trained. I prefer their program and it is easy for me to drop off/pick up since I work on 34th Street. If you're looking for a less intensive program, these schools are definitely not a good match.
