So before I start I want to say I have talked to numerous and as well switched doctors 3 times for anyone who has rude comments to tell me to ask the doctors. It's not easy finding a good doctor who actually cares to find out what's wrong when the problem is deeper than the outside.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

My daughter was born 5 weeks and 3 days premutely. She was 4 pounds 11.9 ounces and DIDNT have to go into he NICU since she wasn't under the weight restrictions. They kept a close eye on her as we was in the hospital the 2 days after. She had to have her sugar checked as well as temperature every 2 hours for her to be allowed to stay in their room with myself and her father and she did! When she was born her first feeding was a bottle bc her sugar was low and they kept her in the nursery for an hour or two. Since then which has been 41/2 months we have been in and out of the doctor weekly as well as the hospital and even had to stay for 4 days when she was 5 days old for neonatal hypothermia. When there they ran test after test after test and nothing was found. She is now 9 pounds and 6.5 ounces and cannot maintain her own temperature. She is constantly hypothermic but acts completely fine. It's only her temperature. She as well breaks out in a cold clammy sweat her. They continue to tell me its because she is too thin and doesn't have enough fat and that everything is fine but her WBC has dropped at one point as well. She has also had a lot of digestive and gastro issues which led us going to a gastro specialist where an upper gi scan was done. Everything looked great as well as flowing where it needed to be. She cannot poop and she's been on mirulax since she was 3 weeks. I've been to Doctor after Doctor after Doctor and NOONE can seem to give me any answers. She is breast and formula fed bc they want her to gain more weight and its not working. I dress her in warm clothes at all times she's never just undressed. All body parts is covered as well as a blanket. Just wanted to get some advice from other mothers.

I apologize that I didn't explain myself well.

My questions I suppose are :

Why would she have constant hypthermic temperatures?

What would be causing her to break out in a cold clammy sweat?

Why can she still not poop on her own even with the help of breast milk as well as mirulax?

Any suggestions on what it may be causing all these problems?

I have specialist appts set up and when I feel something is off I always take her to the ED and they tell me she looks great but won't check further into my worries when she has had problems in the past.

What can I do next?

What is your question?
How premature is she?
What are her other multiple issues?
You need to be able to communicate with the medical professionals who are working with your child.
If you can't understand what the doctors are telling you, then keep asking questions until they can explain it to you in simple terms.

What's your question exactly?
Preemies lose body heat quickly. It's exactly why your doctors say. Full term babies store fat up, preemies haven't. Which is why you have to keep them warm (what the incubators are for when they are in the hospital). I'm sure they must have covered this all with you - so maybe ask your doctors these questions. They will explain it.
Good luck :)

if you've got a preemie, your medical professionals should have given you lots of coaching in how to care for your baby. it should never be necessary to ask strangers on the internet how to care for a child with multiple issues.
call your freakin' doctor.

Your best bet on this is to tell your doctor that you need guidance because you have no idea how to dress your preemie to make sure she is warm enough. They will be able to tell you what temp to keep your house at and how many layers of clothing she'll need to be wearing.

Babies put on a lot of weight in the last couple months so being born early means that preemies don't have that additional fattening up period before being born. Please work with your doctor and ask as many questions as you need to ask so that you know what's important to worry about and what isn't.

How old is she? How premature was she? You aren't offering us enough information. You mention that there are multiple other issues, but you don't say what they are. Is she breastfed or bottle fed? What does the doctor tell you?
