I don't know if her finances would allow for this, if she went back to full time hours, but I don't believe there is a waiting period for maternity care with humana. Otherwise, maybe she can afford a high deductible plan that will cover her and the baby for catastrophic injury or illness only (lower premiums) then start a savings account for the hospital/birth center now. I know other moms who have done this and end up paying less than if they had paid all their high premiums, deductibles, copays/percentages. Also, there are a few OB's that I have run into around town that have cash payment plans to cover all of your prenatal. I'm sorry I can't remember the specific names at this time, but I remember seeing a few on the internet.
