hey moms, i haven't been on in a while! i am pregnant with baby # 3 and i know acne comes with pregnancy but is there anything that will calm it down a bit? This has got to be the worse case i've ever had! i even break out a bit on my back. I've NEVER had acne on my back! I started to use a clean & clear astringent. then my face started flaking from being dry so... i bought cetaphil face cream. it helps the dry skin but i need to get rid of this acne... it's really affecting me!

What can I do next?

Bad acne that was embarrassing happened to me with my first. A good facial that cleaned out all the bacteria completely did the trick for me. I literally saw improvement the next day. Farrah at Solare Spa in Frisco can help. http://solarespa.com/

Hello T.,
Here are some tips...
Use a scrub brush with a handle for your back in the shower daily. Basically Exfoliation is the key so using a mask on the acne areas is the key. Then apply Acne Treatment Gel (Mary Kay) on the areas as needed.
I have had to deal with acne personally and I have experience for 12 years in my Mary Kay.
I hope this begins to help. I know acne is a pain, but you can manage it.
Let me know if you need more personal help. That is free. In Mary Kay you only pay for the products that actually work for you. That is our 100% Satisfaction guarantee. I keep my store stocked up so I can serve folks quickly.

Ok, I don't want to get any hopes up, but I had terrible acne with my GIRLS!! I think they say that acne is usually because of estrogen and and that is higher of course in baby girls.

i was actually prescribed a cream that helped a lot. i want to say it was an antibiotic, but Iknow that it was a safe one. Good luck!

You've received some good suggestions already.

I'm not pregnant and I'm not really suffering from acne - just an occasional zit or two - but I started to use a homemade cleanser and it has helped my skin look a lot better and feel very clean. I use it twice a day, morning and bedtime.

I put a little witch hazel into a bottle (about 1/8th cup? I don't measure it) and mix in some epsom salts (maybe 1/4 - 1/2 tsp?) and add several drops of lavender oil and tea tree oil. Shake it every time you use it and put it on a cotton ball and rub your face and other acne prone areas with it. It smells pretty strong, but I like the smell! When I first started making this I didn't put in the lav and tea tree, and it still cleaned, but I feel like the oils help disinfect. They are natural antibacterial and antifungal agents. On at-home days I even use it for a deodorant.

You can get the WH and the ES in the pharmacy area. Get the other two items at a Whole Foods or Sprouts or herb store - I get mine at Herb Max at the intersection of Alma and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

Hello T.!

I've heard that Arbonne's men line has really helped with pregnancy acne. LOL! I know it sounds crazy but I've heard that testimony.

Not sure if you're aware of Arbonne but some of the benefits are all products are botanically based, vegan certified, never tested on animals, hypoallergenic, no harsh chemicals or fragrances, no mineral oil, dermatologist tested, and ph correct.

If you'd like a sample, I'd be more then happy to get one to you.

Take care and God bless!

With two of my girls I've had horrible acne. I suffered through it the first time but this time I'm using Cetaphil and its wonderful. Please don't use any anti-acne products from anyone selling miracle cures. They aren't proven safe for your baby and the natural Cetaphil is very gentle.

Hey there! I can't help with the acne while pregnant but I know after my daughter was born my whole body was different. Hormones definitely do a number on you. I asked my doctor for a cream to put on my face, but I don't know about using it for when you are pregnant. It could be in another month or two things may just clear up on their own. I'd continue on the Cetaphil or even Clinique, but lay off the other stuff. Make sure you wash your back after you wash your shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. Sometimes the oils from the conditioner can cause breakouts on your back. I'd call your OB and ask if there is something you can use for spot treatmeats before you start using anything else. Most of that stuff is absorbed into your system and you don't want alot of that gunk to go to your baby. I wouldn't change a whole lot because it takes a few weeks for your body or face to adjust to something new, like a new cleanser and by then it might be clearing up anyway. Good luck, I hope it means it's a girl!

when i was preg. with my son who is now 2 1/2 i started to get acne bad as well and had always had the clearist skin. So at the time it was hard for me to handle on top of the weight gain and everything else, plus iam what you call a "picker" and have been since i was a child. When ever i feel a bump or anything I start picking it and messing with it asap, and of course is the worst thing to due. I tried so many in store proctuct and even order proactive when i was preg. and there are two things that i feel help me the best, one was the clinique liquid facial soap mild or cetaphil gentle skin cleanser for all skin types. I have both oil to dry skin on my face that can make it even harder to find a product. but i use clinque dramatically different moisturizing gel on the spots of my face that can get dry at times and trust me a lil.goes a long way and it doesnt break me out. so good luck and hope this will help you
