Sorry if this is TMI but I am almost 7 weeks pregnant with #4. My son & I had a really bad 24 hour flu yesterday. We're better today, just feeling weak. Well, I just went to the restroom and had brownish discharge. Has anyone else ever had this? I don't recall ever having this while being pregnant. I have been feeling so good until yesterday. Now I'm scared I could be losing the baby. Has anyone else ever had brownish discharge during pregnancy?

What can I do next?

Brown is old blood just like the other poster said. If it only happened once and you are you not having any cramping or tightening the lower abdominal region then you should get plenty of fluids the next few days and recover from the bug. But if it happens again call the doc.

Sometimes bloody discharge or bleeding is just unexplainable in pregnancy. I bled really heavily for a weekend and continued to spot for 4 weeks...baby is doing great and they cannot find any problems at all.

Did you have sex last night? That is the first thing my dr asked me when I called about the bleeding. I hope it is nothing. Give your OB a call just so see what he/she says.

I also had spotting like this with both of my healthy pregnancies all throughout the first trimester. Both of my boys are healthy and all was fine. I did call my OB when this happened and let her know. As others have said, when it is brown blood and no cramping, they are typically not concerned. I did have red blood with my second pregnancy and they had me come in for an ultrasound. The reason for the bleeding was never detected, but the baby was fine. It is worth the peace of mind to call your OB, but spotting like this is very common, especially early in the first trimester.

Hope you feel better!

I had this with my second baby and all was fine. You should just run to the OB and check it out to be sure. If you are not having any cramping or more blood than you are probably fine.

Brown is old blood, it could be nothing but call your OB just in case.

Hi,
I had this with my third child very heavily and it eventually turned into heavy bleeding. I was panicked and sure I had lost the baby but he is now a happy healthy two year old. I had lots of tests done for my hormone levels and they had me to come in for an unltrasound afterwards but he hung in there.
I remember when the discharge was brown that the doc told me that was an indicator of old blood and not to worry unless it turned bright red.
It sounds like that's your case as well.
Best of luck!
M.

I agree with Joanna, I had spotting with my third, but it never hurts to get it checked out!
