Pregnancy Question - Varicose Veins on Vulva???

OMG!!!!! I am 38 weeks preggo. I have been very sore and just realized that I was a bit swollen. So I took to a mirror to see what was going on. Normal kind of swelling that happens at the end, but then I noticed a purple vein that is bulging a bit. It isn't HUGE or anything, but it is kind of freaking me out. It isn't painful, even to the touch, but like I said, is is freaking me out!!!

Has anyone experienced this? Will it go away on its own? Can this impact a vaginal delivery? Is this something I should call my OB about or is this normal? This is my 3rd pregnancy, but I never had this with the others.

Thanks for any info!!

What can I do next?

I got it with my 3rd pregnancy too. It went away on its own after birth. Its normal, just caused from all the extra blood flow, baby.

Got them with my third too. Didn't impact anything at all. I got a whole bunch actually. The only issue I had is a couple got scratched open and scared me to bits that I was going into early labor when I saw the blood on my panties (I got mine earlier in pregnancy than you).

I had it with my 2nd and mine was acyually pretty painful. I couldn't wear pants or cross my legs. It went away within a couple weeks and didn't impact anything. But it was def a horrible thing to go thru. It's normal. It's just the way the baby is laying which puts pressure down there.

Yes! I had this @ 4 months prego, i hated it ): I would cry and it totally grossed me out. Don't worry-it will go away. I too got a V-2 belt, but you are so ready to deliver it would be a waist of $. Should not affect delivery. I had a issue to where i was in labor for a long time (babys head was stuck) so it did make my veins dialate and bleed. I ended up having a c-section. But i had no clue till after. You will be fine!! I sympathize with you!!! Rest of your feet and place a pillow under your pelvic area. They don't bulge when you lay down (:

I had them with both my pregnancies, including the one I'm in the midst of currently. Doesn't impact delivery to my knowledge. Definitely freaked me out though. With my 1st there was no pain involved but the 2nd time around there were a few weeks of pain and pressure. I got a V2 supporter from Amazon. Awesome! I also ended up sitting on frozen maxi pads when the pain was bad too. The weird vein is still there but I don't generally have discomfort from it except sometimes after sex. If I do I wear my V2 for a day and all is better

I bet it's just from all the extra blood-flow in the area, making a vein stand out more than the others. Mention it at your next appointment to make sure all is okay and settle your concerns, but I highly doubt this would in any way cause trouble with a vaginal delivery. Good luck, momma!

Yep, I got one! Thought I had a worm or something at first! ;-) Totally normal, once the pressure's gone and extra blood flow from being pregnant it will reduce. Mine went away - don't worry!

Sounds like a vaginal hemrhoid. Yes they exist. My SIL got them. Said she survived by putting a cold can of soda in her pants. Sorry.

call your OB in the morning.....but I think you should relax! Think about how much pressure is down there right now.....of course, you're bulging!
