Hello moms. I am a first time mom to be. I am experiencing really bad acne. I am 14 weeks pregnant and thought the acne would subside after the 1st trimester but it hasn't. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could use to help the acne clear up? I have kept a food log which hasn't really helped. My acne has gotten progressively worse since my pregnancy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

What can I do next?

You might try taking good quality Omega 3 fish oil capsules. It not only might help your acne but is also great for your baby's brain development. Omega 3s are anti-inflammatory and the inflammation of acne can be caused by hormonal changes. If you want more info, feel free to contact me.

wish I could give some advice to help but like my obgyn told me...there really isn't anything I can do since the hormones are going haywire because of the baby. I could really use any topical treatments because of their absorption into the skin. I had bad pimples pretty much through out my whole pregnancy, skin rosacea then a thing called PUPP towrads the end which were little pimple like pustules all over my body.

All I can say is to pamper yourself as much as possible, give yourself mild facials and gentle masks at home or a spa, anything to make you FEEL better because actually making it clear up is up to your pregnancy hormones and nothing you can do from the outside.

If it any consolation, as miserable as my skin was..my bouncing 10 month son was WELL worth it. And I am sure your healthy little one will be too

This is important because what you put on your skin goes straight to the blood stream.
It comes with a 45 day money back gaurentee so if you dont get results you can send it back for a full refund. If your intersted in learning more you can check out my website at www.dalex.myarbonne.com its called Clear Advantage. Feel free to email me or call me anytime..Best of luck to you..Di

Hi B.,
Congrads on becoming a mommy. It's the best thing ever! I just wanted to share with you my experience with pregnancy acne. I have two beautiful daughters, 10 and 3(almost 4) and I had really bad acne with both of them. I was only 20 when I was pregnant with my first. Being still so young I hadn't yet gotten over my teenage acne at that point yet. But when I got pregnant with #2 I was 27 years old and I had clear skin for years before. Then when I got pregnant again I started breaking out really bad again. It's only when I'm pregnant I get the acne. Otherwise I get one here and there but not like when I'm pregnant. So What I did is ordered proactiv solution like on the commercials. They have a website www.proactiv.com. It's too harsh for me regularly, but when I was pregnant, it was the only thing that worked. I still use the mask once every two weeks or so. The mask is great. really keeps your pores clean. This worked for me. I hope you find what works. I know how you feel! :)
Good luck!

I broke out pretty bad too - and not just on my face. My shoulders and chest broke out. It's the hormones. For me, it cleared up a few weeks into my 2nd trimester. Just pamper yourself. Get a facial or a massage - something to make you feel good. Some moderate exercise may help get your blood circulating. That can make a complexion look better too. It WILL go away. Just enjoy this time and don't worry about your skin. :-)

Hi, B.,

I have had acne breakouts during my (middle-aged) pregnancies. According to what I've heard and read from doctors, hormones, not food choices, determine the severity and duration of acne breakouts. Most of my doctors recommended doing nothing during pregnancy (just being patient). My complexion improved after my kids were born. If a few months after the birth of your baby you do not see noticeable improvement, visit a dermatologist.

Good luck,
Lynne E
