I do not know of any therapists in the area, so until you find one, please feel free to PM me if you need to talk. Do you have friends you could talk to in the meantime?
I respect you for getting help, and I truly hope someone knows a reference for you in that area.

Dont' know any for your area but there is a great support group and Coordinator of the group of of St. Alexis in Hoffman Estates...That group and therapy saved me too! You are not alone and I know exactly what you are experiencing...I am glad you are trying to seek help. Very good you recognize this. Call your OB/GYN office for a referal. Often they know where you can go. That is where I got the name of my therapist. I have child #3 - 3 months old and I am back to work full time so you can imagine. In the meantime talk to your family and friends for support until you can get some medication and professional help if need be...Good luck.

First of all congratulations! Hang in there, this is very common and happens to a lot of women and it is terrifing. I am so proud of you for noticing and being proactive to take care of you and your health! You are amazing to be able to post and know to ask for a good recommendation wow! I wish I had someone in yoru area beacue i used to live in Lindenhust and would have loved the names. I saw Dr. Howard Weismann in Northbrook or I htink he is in Chicago. His website is The Chicago Stress Relief Center but not sure insurance pays all of it? I also saw Dr. Silvia Schneider Fox she is out of Glenco now. I have her e-mail address if that helps. Keep drinking tonsof water, I know that helped my crying spells. I always cried after I nursed and my kids were sick and ended up with a disease so no one culd figure out what was wrong and I was a mess. They ened up being allergic to food that included my breast milk so i stopped and they went on some medical food formula that saved their lives but I was a hormonal mess and had these crazy sick kids. We also had adopted a three eyar old 8 months before all this who too had issues. So not only was I a wrek my poor husband took a lot too. He too got depressed thinking aobut it all but Thank God we got some help in many ways and well wow we survied and it is just the regular busy crazy life with three kids that were meant to be ours for many obvious reasons. If there is anything I can do? OCm e hold your baby for you or take you to get your nails done or let you ahve a shower in peace or even just to listen please feel free to write me or call me even in your darkest feelings ok. I would love to help someone though this since I was helped by others.
you are a courageous woman i can tell already!

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I've been there twice, and it will get better, I promise! After crying through my first postpartum appointment, my OB gave me a pamphlet put out by an organization called, Depression After Delivery. There was a number you could call and request a list of therapists that dealt with PPD. Susan Benjamin Feingold, who was the president of the org at that time, also ran a support group out of Family Network in Highland Park. That was extremely helpful to talk to other moms going through the same thing! There weren't any therapists on the list in my immediate area then, and Susan couldn't accept any private patients at that time, but suggested Carol O'Connor, in Skokie, who is wonderful. She is on Golf Rd. She was worth the drive from Gurnee! I still see her to deal with other issues. Please feel free to contact me if you need to talk.
