My son also did this. I actually gave up because I was tired of disinfecting the bathroom 5 times a day. When he was closer to 3 he decided he wanted to go. I always let him see our family using the bathroom, and since he was the only one who wasn't, he wanted to be a big boy, too!

He still wouldn't poop in the potty, though. I struggled with this for several months, cleaning poop out of his underwear, until I told him in desperation one day that if he pooped in the potty he would get a piece of chocolate (since my daughter is extremely sugar-sensitive, chocolate is a huge treat in my house!). The very next time he pooped IN the potty, and has been doing so ever since.

My point is that every child is different. He may or may not be ready yet. You can keep trying, or you can decide to wait a little longer. You know your son best, and you know how you react best, too. If it's too frustrating, you may want to hold off for a while. If you're okay and it's really more important to get him trained, then by all means keep going!

Find out what presses your son's button. Is it candy? Stickers? Whatever works, offer it to him as a reward for a job well done!

I took some time off work my first week of potty training. We stayed home that whole week. I kept my little girl in her "big girl pantys" and every moment it was,"Zoii, you need to go pee? you need to go poo?" Then when she went I would make a HUGE deal out of it. Treats, clapping, making up little congradulations song about her accomplishments.
Then the next week I went out and bought one of those portable toddler pottys. They are real cool, you can fold them up and put them in a little bag. I let Zoii carry hers in her little bag pack along with some sani wipes to keep the seat clean. It made her feel like a big girl.
Another thing that I think helped was her always following me to the bathroom. She was very curious about what mom was doing in that white chair with a hole in it. Its an invasion of privesy but oh well what ever it takes to cut the diaper expense out of the budget. Accedeent will occure even after they are potty trained so stay on your p's and Q's when your out in public for a while. You will probly still need an extra pair of pants incase at least for a couple months after there potty trained.
Well hope that help.

I hate to tell you this but my son is 3 years, 4 months old and we are still working on potty training. Some days he will peepee in the potty and poop in the pull-up. Some days he will poop in the potty and peepee in the pull-up. It never seems to be both on the same day. I have tried regular underwear and done nothing but clean up all the peepee and poop for those days, he has never gotten either in the toilet. I have tried stickers, candy, bribes (new toys), telling him his peepee and poop want to play with all their other friends down in the toilet, you name a method...I have tried it. I am just taking it one day at a time and have purchased a lot of clorox wipes. If you find a method that works for you could you PLEASE send it on to me!! Because some days around here are really shitty (yes, pun intended!!).

The best thing to do is "Potty Parties". I did this with my son and it worked great. Just let him pick out a little prize after he goes in the potty. (just simple things like candy, little toys.} Make sure to tell him what a BIG boy he is and the positive reinforcement should work. My son did very well with this. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my son when he was 2 years old. I could not get him to go in the potty. So I made up this story about everyones pee and poopoo going to the lake and having fun, except for his pee and poopoo because he was not going in the potty and then flushing! The look on his face was priceless. The next time he decided he needed to go he sat on the potty and went. After he flushed he waved and said "Have fun at the lake"!! This worked for me!! Try it!!
