hey moms! okay so whats going on is that my 22 month old daughter is over the 95th percentile for her height adn weight for her age. she's in the last size of pampers (size 6) and we're having to change her almost every hour or she'll pee on my leg if theres pressure on the diaper (one of the signs i aways took as time to move up in size) but there are no more sizes!! she just started saying "pee, pee, pee, pee" but she not putting the 2 together the peepee means that u need to pee....she think her potty is a toy, so i've been keeping it in the bathroom and when i go, i take her with me and tell her thats her potty and thats where she goes peepee like mommy and she just laughs at me...ive sent her on both the adult potty and hers and shes fine but other than that isnt really showing interest, but were running out of time cause the ammount she is going each time is increasing and a daiper barely lasts 1.5 hrs and sometimes not even that. i know its gotta be on her time, but the daiper thing is going crazy! and i dont know what to do and how to help her understand the potty and that she needs to go in there insterad of her daiper.....any and all advice will be awesome thanks moms!!!!

Hmm, you might want to talk to the pedi about this because it sounds like she's peeing a lot more frequently than what I have seen, but I think if a child isn't ready there isn't much you can do.
You could switch to Pampers Easy Ups- they come in bigger sizes.
Good luck!! :)

Diapers.com does carry the size 7 Pampers..haven't seen it anywhere else in my area. Don't stress about the potty..one day it'll just start "clicking." My dd is almost 3 and she just really got it finally about 2 months ago. Good luck!

Why is she peeing so much? I think that might be more of an issue than the diaper size. Ask the pedi about it just to be sure.

I know that potty training can only be done when they are ready, but my concern is greater. Is she that thirsty drinking enough to wet through a diaper hourly and she is on the larger side for her age I would present this to the doctor as she is wetting alot. She may have a urinary tract infection, diabetes, thyroid, celiac.... I would first check health just to make sure, then I would go for the potty training. It will take alot as she doesn't seem quite ready. There are alot of methods for training but if she is not ready it won't happen. I would though get those concerns out of the way early.

They do make a size 7. You can order them online or get them in store at Babies R Us or Toys R Us.

Since she needs to be changed every hour or so, maybe you should try putting her on the potty every 30 mins. Try with no pamper on. Have her sit down with her favorite book, or maybe watching her favorite show, or while drinking water. Everytime you sit her down, let her know that its time to make pee pee. Consistency is the key. She will get the idea soon enough.

I find that the Target brand diapers are much bigger than any brand name ones. My daughter is almost 4 and in the 95% group and wears size 6 Target brand at night. She oozed out of Pampers and Huggies size 6. Try those for now.

If you feel she needs to still be in diapers you could try adding a diaper liner to her diaper for added absorbancy. As far as potty training...I explained that they were big kids and not going to wear diapers any more (you could tell her the truth that she grew to big for diapers and they don't fit anymore). I put them in underwear only for a couple of days to make it easier for them to quickly use the potty. Stay near her throughout the day, offer plenty of fluids so she has plenty of chances to practice, and repeatedly remind her to use the potty. Every half hour or so take her to the potty and encourage her to go. After an accident run her to the potty and still have her sit for a few seconds to help her understand that that is where she needs to go. Feeling the wet pee run down her legs should help her understand what you are talking about. Once she successfully pees in the potty you can make a huge deal about it so that she wants to continue to please you. It might be messy for a day or two, but kids are smart and usually learn quickly.

She is too young. Why torture yourself & her if she is not ready. Wait till she is ready & it will be a breeze.

Why is she soaking through a diaper every hour? Seems a bit much, are you changing her too ofter?

22 months is really young to potty train. You might have to buy those "goodnight" pants for older kids. My DD is 3 1/2, 40lbs and she still fits in a huggies size 5 about to move to a 6. She wears them to bed.

Hi, just so you know, they do have size 7 diapers now. Some people have told me you could find them at some Target's, not sure...but I have ordered mine on e-bay and got a much better deal! You can also get them on-line as well...
She is still young, everything will happen in due time!!! I didn't think my FOUR year old would ever be poop-trained, or potty trained at night time!!! Then one day, he just decided he didn't want to wear a diaper or pullup to bed anymore, and that was that! Awesome!!! All the best!!!

Pampers does make a size 7- but it has to be ordered online. I have never seen them in my area.

Don't do pull-ups, they are far less absorbant than diapers and are not meant to be worn as a diaper. They will leak just like the pampers are now.

This is why my mom always had us get chicken pox. Little open sores and wet diapers make for huge pain and diaper training made simple. Have you thought of cloth diapering her? I know you can find cloth child and youth diapers in cloth and disposable and since she is so big she would need the smallest size in "youth and child" diapers (these are usually meant for down's kids and other developmentally delayed children... or in your case REALLY big ones...)

how much is she drinking?? she really shouldnt need changing every hour.

My kids got changed every 3 or 4 hours adn the diaper was wet but not soaked.

cut back on her liquids sounds like she might have a cup of juice all day. not good for the teeth either.

How much is she drinking? My 3 year old drinks 16 oz of milk a day plus at least 4-8 oz of water, and he only needs to be changed every few hours. Sometimes, I have forgotten to change him, and he'll be in it for maybe 5 hours, and then it's soaked.

Oh, and why not take the diapers off completely? She'll be potty trained pretty quickly if it's immediately running down her leg. I'll be doing that with my just turned 3 year old in a few weeks.
