Hi L.,
I really didn't get much help from the books (sorry). I sat in a bookstore one day for *3 hours* and read through so many different books.

So many of them said things that just didn't apply to me or my child, and so many others disagreed with each other: I just got confused!

I ended up going to a Mom who had potty trained her 5 kids before each of them turned 3, and did whatever she told me to do. That was much more helpful (and successful!)

Good luck.
T

A great book to read to your child is a book called "no more diapers for ducky". its very cute! Not sure who the author is.There's also it's sister book called "no more pacifier for piggy" as well!

Potty training books help, but hwat worked best for me was a potty training video. It has been a while so i dont remember the name, but any video will work well have her watch it while she is sitting on the potty and if she goes potty, then do the potty dance...

Hold your fingers in the air, dance around in circles while you sing,,, (her Name) went potty (her name) went potty what a big girl she is and then repeat until tired.. it worked well for my son.. he loved the song and would go potty alot just to hear it.

I want my Potty by Tony Ross; Potty Time by F. Watt & R. Wells; Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi. My boys especially liked Everyone Poops.

i had a book from usborne books that was really cute. check them out. otherwise there is the no cry potty training solution.

with my son he wanted to do it all himself and pretty much i didnt have to do anything but supply the potty and a little telling him how to use it and him being in the bathroom with me when i went. he just did it all on his own. each kid is different, but one thing to remember with potty training; you cannot force a child into it. it is something they have to actually learn to do on their own. they cant understand when and how to go until they are able to feel like they have to go and that its a discomfort to go in a diaper or be in a wet diaper. so dont push most of all, just offer plenty of opportunities and rewards for times she does go or at least sit there while you go or something.
chocolate was a good jump starter for my son, but like i said, he decided how and when all on his own when he was darn good and ready. he was probably 2 1/2 so have patience! the less fuss you make of it the better

If you're looking for a parenting book, I recommend "The Everything Potty Training Book." It covers a variety of ways to potty train so you can decide for yourself what you'd like to try. At the back she has a list of potty training books for kids and adults. If you're looking for books for kids, I purchased "My big boy potty" and "Once upon a potty." I prefer "My big boy potty" because I felt if had better pictures and text (they have a "My big girl potty" version too). I also bought "Too big for diapers." Our son liked all three books. He also watched Elmo's potty time DVD. He didn't watch it very much until he was mostly trained though.
