Potty Training - Odenton, MD

My daughter was 2 1/2 when I potty trained her. I let her go bare bottom (well, she had a nightgown or a sundress on to cover her). That was the only way to get her on the potty. She went on the floor like 4x and then started going on the potty. Once I got her to go on the potty, I put panties on her. I also did the reward system with stickers for #1 and beaded necklace for #2. I didn't really need to get her a special reward for accumulating stickers. Stickers are one of her favorite things, so she was happy with them!

Hey S. congrats on your sweet little miracle. Children sure are a blessing. I have potty trained more kids than i can count. I have found that taking them shopping to pick out panties that they like (you must add how exciting to wear big girl panties) they tend to really like that and she may have accidents thats ok i know it is more work for you but with a litle patience and alot of praise she will soon be going. Seeing that she usually goes in daycare. Im sure she can go at home. Try to put her on the potty every half hour i know its time consuming but it usually works within a week. Once again enjoy your baby they grow up so fast and soon were wishing for potty training days again. Lol take care steph

HI S., I just wanted to tell you to relax a little. None of my children were completely potty trained at two. In fact it may take until she's three for her to be completely potty trained. It take a long time for some children and you just have to be patient and do your best not to make it a stressful thing on her or she will shy away from it. She'll do it when she's ready, and not a minute before. Girls seem to be easier to potty train, so at least you have that on your side.Good Luck!

well S. i am kind of having the same issue i have a set of 2 years old twins but a little advise i would take the pull-ups off buy big girl panties and try to figure out wha times she goes (schedule) 15 min after meals etc but keep me posted good luck

I would start out by contacting the Day Care and asking questions about the techniques they're using with her during the day. Obviously they're working, so it might just be a matter of following-up at home with the same.

hello S., well my oldest daughter was a breeze 2 potty train. it took about three days and that was it. my youngest..."NIGHTMARE!" she was so hard 2 train. i even thought there was something wrong and took her 2 her pediatrician. she knew when she had 2 go, knew when she had 2 b changed. she would bring me the diaper n wipes. i thought this girl will never ever do it! we went from rubber panties 2 reguler panties to them thick training panties to pull-ups. then the pediatrician said, put her diapers back on. when she is ready she will do it. then 1 day when she was close to 3 years old, she was playing in her playroom. she walked by me and said "potty mommie" so i thought she was going 2 get her daiper and wipes like she has b4. it took a few minutes so i got up 2 check on her and there she was in the bathroom with her training seat on the toilet going. she took her diaper off and just went. i put pull-ups on her for about a week after but that was it. no problems since and she is now 7. ur daughter prolly goes with no problems at daycare cause of the other children there but fear not, when she is ready to go at home she will.

If she is only 2, I wouldn't worry all that much. The one thing I did with my daughter was take her shopping for her big girl panties, and she picked out Dora and Tinkerbell and thought she was all that. lol

Everytime she used the potty, she got to put a sticker on this big poster, that she helped decorate, to show how great she was doing. When she got to I think it was 10 stickers, we would go out and get another pack of big girl panties. I figured she needed them anyway, this would be her reward.

my son was just the same he would go to the bathroom at my dads,daycare.and my brothers house but not at home all b/c i had steps and that i figure out every one eles bathroom was on the same floor he was just to lazy to go up the stairs so encourge her to go up steps if u have steps

I am not sure whether girls or boys are easier. My daughter picked it up pretty quick but it seemed to take my son forever (he was 3)! We tried everything - sticker chart, snack/goody rewards, bribery, matchbox cars for each poop - but nothing seemed to work.

I put him in pull-ups at night and kept him in underwear whenever I was home. I kept him in the soiled clothes a little longer each time so he could feel the "uncomfy sensation". Sure, I had to clean many soiled pairs of pants (like 4 a day) but I stuck to it and eventually it worked. Keep putting her on the toilet at different times, especially before baths (my son actually gets out of the tub to go). Just stick to it and once she sees how happy mommy is, she'll want to go on the toilet every time. Good luck!

What pull-ups r u using? Dos she war pull-ups all the time? Most don't completely potty train until 3yrs., boys not until 4yrs..
I'm going through the same thing except mine is 3yrs. and no pre-school.
