It sounds weird & doesn't have the pleasantest of odors - but try applying apple cidar vinegar to the acne & blemishes. ACV is great stuff for all sorts of things!!! Good Luck! H. B
Did or does anyone have any problems with acne during and after their pregnancy. I don't know what happened to my hormones, but I am feeling like a teenager all over again. I cannot get this acne under control and at age 33 this is a big issue. I have tried every product I can think of and also went to a dermatologist. Any other suggestions for acne and dark spots on cheek areas?

Me too! I'm 33 and after baby #2 suddenly my skin was so broken out it was like being a teen all over again. I have been using pure witch hazel as an alcohol-free toner, aloe vera gel to promote healing, mixed with a drop of orange essential oil for coloration and keeping pores clean and occasionally tea tree oil as gentle natural anti-bacterial solution. Also, "milk of Magnesia" applied to the break out area with a cotton ball and then rinsed away will help with your skin's PH Balance. I also have eliminated all dairy products from my diet since milk sensitivites can cause breakouts and redness.
Hey K.! I used to have awful acne when pregnant as well...and for some reason have struggled with it some after pregnancy too. I never had it in highschool years! Anyways, I went to the dermatologist & was put on a topical "lotion" (it's thin & clear, doesn't look like lotion) called Klaron. I have been on it since then & absolutely love it. It's very mild, and I just use it as my face moisturizer. It's very cheap with insurance, and literally lasts me 6 to 7 months before needing a refill. It's worth a try! Hope that helps! =)
I had bad skin as a teenager and after a particularly bad bout I tried an Indian remedy I'd read about in Dear Abby that absolutely worked. Spread an egg yolk on your face for ten minutes a day for a month. After the month is up, do it once a week. The consistency is key. It's cold and smells a little funny (looks a little funny too...) but it absolutely worked and is a cheap enough to give a shot to anyway.
i had the same problem after my 2nd kid, i started using acnefree you can buy it at walmart for about $17 for the starter kit..its basically the cheap version of pro-activ. the only problem i had using it was my skin was a little dryer than usual so i just started using a better moisturizer that had a uv rating on it.
Hi K.,
I know you said you tried every product out there, so did I after having my daughter and I stopped breast feeding. What did work for me was pro active. But you actually have to use it the way they tell you to. At least twice a day and all 3 products together. I never had problems before but after having her I broke out and pro active has given me my face back finally. Good luck with your search!
You've gotten good advice, but I just thought I'd tell you what works for me. I can't use the Mary Kay or Arbonne skin care products; they just don't keep breakouts in check. ProActive works for me - but like one response said, you have to follow the process and use it morning and night. Like you, I am 33, and I've had more skin issues at the beginning of and after pregnancy than I did as a teenager! It really is cruel to have to worry about breakouts at the same time that you are starting to think about wrinkles! Good luck!
Hi K.,
My name is A. and I discovered an amazing product line that cleared my skin completely. I am 31 and also suffered with acne pre, during and post pregnancy. I like the product so much that I became a consultant. We also have products to help with the dark spots on the cheeks. Please let me know if I can get you some samples or more information. I have an almost 3-year-old son.
A.
sorry to make this quick, i got really bad acne after my son was born. I went to the dermatologist and was put on a prescription. Didn't work, only made it worse. Tried proactive, dried out my skin.
The only thing i found that worked, and still works! is arbonne's intelligence line. I love it!!
If youd like more info or would like to try some, let me know!

My sister had the same exact problem. Flawless skin until after her babies. She tried proactive and still uses it, but also went to dermatologist. I know she got medicated cleansing pads, etc. But she also went to a regular family doctor that was a D.O. instead of an M.D. They are more into natural healing. He prescribed a few vitamins that he felt she needed (I think omega, and some other). Anyways, it seemes to help. Try looking up a good D.O. that your insurance accepts.
I am a Mary Kay Consultant and we have products that might work for you. We have Acne Treatment Gel, Blemish Control Toner, and other great skin care products. We have a product called Even Complexion Essence that will even out your skin tone (dark spots). You might see if you can find a consultant in your area or you can visit my website at www.marykay.com/cdhudgens for more information.
K., look in the forums, this same issue has been addressed at great lenghth. I will give you the synopsis of most of the answers...
Hormone imbalance is causing your acne. If you aren't trying to get pregnant soon...Ortho-tricycline is a birth control pill thats side affects include clearer skin.
I haven't tried it, but people seem to really be happy with the results of Pro-active as well as some cheaper versions of the same product.
Consultants of each are recommending Arbonne or Mary Kay skin cleansers, but be really careful, I have plant allergies and Arbonne and Mary Kay both give me hives!
I have always used plain soap and water and followed up with a non-greasy moisturizer like oil of olay, or generic brand, in the pink plastic squeeze bottle with a black cap. I have also treated individual acne spots with bacitracin or other antibiotic ointment. Do not put it all over your face because it dries out the spots. (Personally I prick and open the whiteheads before applying the ointments and have never had scarring or pocking...do not squeeze though, it causes bruising and more trauma to the skin.) Generally try the hormone thing or the proactive thing for long-term solutions.
I had the same problem. I never had acne problems until after my 2nd was born. Then it was so out of control and NO ONE could help me. I went through it all and the dermatologist threw up his hands too. Then I was introduced to Arbonne's skin care and it worked GREAT! I love the fact that it worked and all of their products are botanically-based so there aren't all the chemicals, mineral oils, animal products/by-products, etc. so they are PURE, SAFE, & BENEFICIAL! I would be more than happy to send you some samples to try and give you a discount on your first order. You can take a look at my website and you can email me from there or sign my guest book and leave an address, etc. where I can send you some samples.
Best wishes!
