Possible Miscarriage(some TMI)

Hi Mamma's once again I thank you for your loving, kind and sometimes harsh (but real) advice! I conceived on March 14 the day my husband and I got married. (we do have two sons 1 and 3) I felt a very special bond with this baby and I wanted this baby so badly. I knew I ovulated the day we got married and possibly conceived so I had been taking pregnancy tests since March 25th they all came out very faint positive and then finally on march 31 I took one and it was still light positive but it was more evident that it was positive. i was having all the pregnancy signs very sore breasts and nipples especially with breastfeeding my 1 yr old and hot sauce and pickle cravings, stopped wanting to drink coffee and so on, normal pregnancy stuff for me.
If I were not pregnant I would have started on april 2nd or 3rd and unfortunately I did start bleeding on the third. I felt that my underwear were more moist than they had been since I had been having the white pregnancy discharge. Do i dabbed my panties with toilet paper and there was brown sticky discharge and then later it turned to bright red spotting and small blood clots with light persistent cramping which is still present as I type this. The spotting went on all night long and i took another test, the pregnancy line was even more darker. the next day the bleeding got heavier but still not heavy enough to wear a pad and that night (last night) I was sleeping and woke up laying in blood. Dont get me wrong it was not like a masacre but it was like I just all the sudden gushed and then when I got up to go to the rest room I released 3 large blood clots into the toilet with blood. after the gush, today, I am still cramping and have light spotting again, kinda pinkish at times with clear mucus. This literally feels like my normal period cramps are not bad at all they are just constantly there which is not normal.
I am asking this question instead of going to the dr because I cannot go yet due to health insurance not being effective yet. I called capital women's care and they wont tell me if they think it is a miscarriage or normal pregnancy bleeding but it sounded like she was leaning more toward a miscarriage because of the clots.I asked and it would be like 600 for an office visit with an ultrasound. so i cant not go to find out what is going on right now. I have contacted a midwife too and asked her but did not get a response yet.
What do you all think it could be? PLease ask questions if u think it will help me. I will be checking this all night prolly :)

So What Happened?

So I took another test after I finished bleeding and it was negative. I guess it was a chemical pregnancy. In the future I will not test until I have actually missed my period just to keep the heartbreak from happening again. So disappointed.

There is nothing you can do if it is a miscarriage or A. impending one. I would wait.

It's hard to see anything on the ultrasound this early. I really wouldn't go that route.

It would be good for you to give it some time before trying to conceive, both because you may have had a miscarriage, and because you don't have insurance yet.

Good luck.

Definitely look into visiting a Planned Parenthood.

I had a chemical pregnancy which ended up naturally terminating about 15 days after when my period would have started. I had sore and very tender breasts, no real appetite and I just felt swollen all over the place and when I stopped to think about it I realized I had completely forgotten about my period and wouldn't ya know it, I was 10 days late. I took two tests, both super pink and positive, I was shocked. About 4 days later I started having cramps and on the morning of the 5th day of "knowing" I was pregnant I started bleeding. Went to PP they took a pregnancy test and did A. ultrasound and confirmed nothing had implanted and my body was flushing it out naturally. I had very clotted bleeding for a few days and then nothing for almost two months-they said it would take about 6-8 weeks for my cycle to get back to a regular schedule.

Try to investigate a Planned Parenthood near you-their prices are very reasonable and I had a wonderful experience, the woman that took care of me was incredibly kind and sweet.

Also, try to relax, calm down and pamper yourself a bit. This is natures way of saying that your body and the universe weren't quite ready for this baby. You'll be blessed with another when the time is right.

well the clots i didnt have but i did have some bleeding early on .. wen i went for my first ultrasound i was under the impression i was 8 weeks along ..when the doctor saw the baby on the screen she was like well your last period that u had was it a light one.. and i said yes and she sed well it wasnt a period because i put your baby between 11 and 12 weeks .. and the more i thought back the more i realized it was probably the shortest lightest period iv ever had .. i wouldnt automatically assume the worst althought i never had any clots it could very well just be bleeding and your baby could be fine.. id definatley see a doctor asap though cuz youre just going to be wondering until u go and find out for sure

I have seen it go both ways, I have personally known women that bleed like they have been shot, complete with clots, and they have had perfectly healthy babies. I also have gone through 2 miscarriages myself. What you describe, sounds like my first. I think with it being so early in the pregnancy, you most likely had a re-absorption miscarriage (fetus is gone and absorbed but the placenta and sac is left), and that you will naturally pass it all out yourself, and not require the D & C. With the amount of clotting your describing, I dont think its good. I am sorry you have had to deal with this. My sympathy in your situation. You wont really know for sure till probably your next cycle, unless you go in for a vaginal ultra sound.

I'm sorry. I had two early miscarriages and your description sounds very much like my second one. In my case, I had cramps and I did pass several clots over 2-3 days and then the bleeding stopped and everything returned to normal. I didn't even contact a doctor.

A. ultrasound would not show anything at this point. If the bleeding does not stop after several days, or gets too heavy, you will need to see someone. But our bodies can take care of themselves, often.

My first miscarriage refused to completely clear, causing on and off bleeding that went on for many weeks. Almost three months later, I decided to have a D&C.

Without a series of blood tests to measure your hcg hormone levels and possibly A. ultrasound, you cannot know for certain whether you are miscarrying or not. If you are not in severe pain or bleeding heavily (more than a pad A. hour for several hours in a row), you don't need to seek medical attention right away. Please make A. appt as soon as you have insurance coverage. A. ER will not give you much help especially since you would be so early in your pregnancy. Checking your urine with pregnancy tests is not helpful either since you will still have a small amount of hcg (the pregnancy hormone measured by the test ) up to 2 or 3 weeks after a miscarriage is complete. I'm so sorry that you must experience this trauma. Try to get some rest. Take some tylenol if you need relief from cramping, but please avoid ibuprofen as it may encourage miscarriage. Be careful to keep hydrated and maintain a healthy diet. Although it sounds like you are having a miscarriage, I have seen women bleed heavily and go on to carry a healthy baby to term. Wishing you the best....Nurse Midwife Mom

If you have a local Planned Parenthood, they will see you without insurance. They can check you out and do a blood test. It might be too early for A. ultra-sound since a heartbeat can't be seen until you're approximately 8 weeks along. But PP will only charge you for your appointment on a sliding scale of what you can afford and still take good care of you and give you the answers you need.

EDIT: I just saw your "so what happened" and since you took another test and got a negative for pregnancy on it, will you still please consider going to Planned Parenthood if you miss your period or have other concerning symptoms since you now have conflicting test results?

When will your insurance be effective? Days or weeks? It could very well be a miscarriage by the sound of it. Keep track of your temperature on a daily basis to make sure you are not spiking a temperature (a sign of infection possibly). Keep track of your bleeding and if it picks up significantly, like soaking more than two pads in A. hour, then go to the nearest ER or a county facility. Hopefully, your bleeding will taper off and you will feel "normal" again. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Please don't hesitate to go to the nearest ER if you have any concerning symptoms.

Sounds like it may be a chemical pregnancy (happens when the egg is fertilized but doesn't implant). It happened to me but it was a week after I would have started my period. I did take a test after I started bleeding and it was negative so that's how I knew, I never went to a doc for that one and it was just like a normal period. I would take another test in a few days. Meanwhile, like some others said, watch out for fever and soaking a pad in A. hour. Then, you need to seek medical attention. Wishing you well.

So sorry you are going through this. A pregnancy test will not tell you if you are still pregnant. Even if you miscarried your hormones would still show you are pregnant.
Could you pay to see a doctor and not get A. ultrasound. If you just conceived in mid March I don't think they could see the baby anyway since it is just too early.
Good luck. I will say a prayer your baby is OK.
