For at least the last four months I have been sick a few days before getting my period. I feel like I'm getting the flu, but I don't. I don't have a fever. I feel achy and extremely bloated with a stomach ache. This month, I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible pains in the top of my abdomen (just under my rib-cage). It felt kind of like contractions. The pain lasted on and off for the next day or so. I have also started getting mild cramps when I have my period, which I have not had before. I have an appointment with my OB-GYN next week, but I was wondering if anyone has experice with this. Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

I have endometriosis and have for several years now. I was diagnosed when I was 19 years old. I have had to surgeries for it and recently a year ago had my first child. Here are some possible symptoms to know if you possibly have endometriosis but the only way for the doctor's to tell is to have a laprascopic procedure done which is very minor surgery.

Pain before and during periods
Pain with intercourse
General, chronic pelvic pain throughout the month
Low back pain
Heavy and/or irregular periods
Painful bowel movements, especially during menstruation
Painful urination during menstruation
Fatigue
Infertility
Diarrhoea or constipation

Other symptoms which are common with Endometriosis include:

Headaches
Low grade fevers
Depression
Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
Anxiety
Susceptibility to infections, allergies

I also felt someone was stabbing me on either side of my stomach. I have an excellent OB his fortay is endrometriosis and he is very good where other OB's through in the towel, I have 2 kids I couldn't have before this, Dr. stayed by my side very compassionate!!! Great Dr.

It doesn't really sound like endo to me as that is usually a pretty young onset and involves a LOT of extremely painful cramping and heavy bleeding. Have you changed birth control lately? Also, not sure of your age but could it be perimenopausal symptoms?

If your doc does diagnose endo be mindful of the treatments- some can help with symptoms but can have lasting fertility impacts. Good luck!

yup. though i was told we get cycsts that can get really big and POP that are painful, but apparently normal. I also had my gall bladder checked which was fine but i have kidney stones. Not sure why it came during that time other than maybe everything else was tender, and also why it wasn't in the back but that's what they told me. They can't diagnos endo w/o going in there but they said that was 'possible'. good luck. drink a ton of water and see if it helps
