Possible Cure for Food Allergies?

My son has severe food allergies to Peanuts, Milk, and Eggs. I have heard that a procedure called NAET might cure him of his allergies. Has anyone had any success with this procedure or know of anyone who has? Does insurance cover any part of it and how expensive is it? Even if NAET won't completely cure him, I am just hoping that accidental exposure won't be life threatening anymore.

What can I do next?

This is so ironic because I'm taking my daughter for her first NAET appointment today. I belong to another parent's group and a few of them had tried it with a great deal of success. One even with peanut allergies.

I will try to remember to send you a message to keep you posted. Feel free to contact me as well (just in case I forget!).

Oh and my insurance does NOT cover it. Although I can get a discount off of approved acupuncturists.

I've heard rave reviews for NAET!
I would pursue 'traditional' medicine, too...
not sure about insurance- ask the NAET practitioner...

Hello, NAET is one of a number of mind-body/energetic therapies that can clear allergies. I studied NMT( Neuromodulation Technique) from Dr. Feinberg, a Chiropractor who studied NAET and other techniques and wanted to develop a more clear and precise system of energy medicine. NMT typically requires fewer treatments than NAET for allergies, and is also applicable for a lot more than treating allergies. In many cases it works very well, I cleared many of my mother's food allergies/sensitivities with it... as to insurance, it depends on what type of practitioner you are seeing and if they can bill their services for insurance based on the diagnosis and their area of licensure - the therapeutic techniques like NAET are not specifically recognize by insurance companies but your visit for a session with the professional may be covered. Hi A.,

My daughter is allergic to peanuts and I need to carry an epi pen...It is very scary! I did NAET with her for a few months, but I was traveling almost 2 hours round trip, plus the time we were in the office. I saw Dr Leslie Fergang who is especially skilled in NAET and working with children. I met many moms in her office who said she cleared their children of serious allergies.

Due to financial circumstances and the drive, I had to stop going, but I do want to return. I have heard that there are practitioners close to us (Boca area) but have been hesitant to try someone new.

Sometimes insurance covers it under chiropractic, as this was the case with Dr Fergang. The problem was I had to meet a $500 deductable b/c she was out of network (most are) and then when the New Year came I had to do it again and couldn't afford it.

Please keep me posted as to where you decide to go and to the results. I would love to find someone closer who I can trust. I will leave you my number and email. I am in school for holistic nutrition and I am a Dr Sears LEAN Coach. I teach simple, practical, and fun nutrition classes for parents of 2-12 yr olds. If I can be a resource for anything else don't hesitate to call.

Healthy blessings,

First get an anti allergy shot (E pen) and know how to use it. It could SAVE A LIFE Talk to and allergist I don't know if they will cure but there are shots for allergies
When he starts school or day care or anyone who watches him need to know about. Type up a page on what and when to do what and wher it is kept. EMT aren't always fast enough.
School regulsations are a pain, but they must do as written by MD. I had to threaten a law suit. "You try but goof I'll forgive! You don't try and I'll see ys in court. Finally the county system told the school they had to use it.

I don't have an answer for you (sorry) but wanted to give my 2cents and make you aware of a yahoo group called foodlab that deals with children and people in general that have food allergies or sensitivites/reactions. Its a great support group and can provide assistance and info on all sorts of food eliminations, recipes, test, etc. I'm not sure if its even possible for something to cure food allergies, except to avoid those foods. Anyway, hoping for the best for your son's health and your peace of mind.
