Hey ladies,
I am 7 weeks pregnant with my second child and am a little surprised to see that I already have a little belly showing. Isn't this kinda soon? I mean, most of my pants are starting to get tight not just in the waist but in the hips too. I havn't weighed myself but I am controlling what I'm eating for the most part. I refuse to weight myself because I tend to get a little crazy when it comes to the scale and it's just best if my stay away for now. I know your supposed to show a little sooner with your second and/or subsequent pregnancies but jeez! Anyone else go through this?? I already feel like a mid sized cow!
I'm pregnant with my 2nd and YES, I definitely was showing a lot sooner with this one, much sooner! By 7 weeks I too was having problems with pants being tight. I think it had a lot to do with being bloated & a bit constipated, which is a very common pregnancy problem. With my daughter I didn't have this problem, so this time I think it made it seem a lot sooner.

I was the same way! I just had my second child...a wonderful baby boy...3 weeks ago. But, before I was even announcing my pregnancy I was in maternity clothes. I also had a lot more ligament pain throughout my pregnancy b/c my ab muscles didn't hold things up or in as much as with the first. However...even though I was bigger in the belly I was smaller all around with the second pregnancy and I've lost all but 9 lbs at this point (3 weeks after)...so just go with it and be thankful that the styles look like maternity clothes these days!

I was exactly the same for my pregnancies. By eight weeks I was wearing maternity clothes. I ended up gaining 80 + pounds too, but took most of it off afterwards. I just was proud to be finally pregnant!!! Don't worry about it. You look great pregnant, not like a cow!

Nancy,
I said the same thing when I had my second. Then one of my girlfriends reminded me that all of the muscles and tendons and ligaments were already stretched out. So, everything comes quicker with each pregnancy. I was in maternity pants by 7-10 weeks and the bras were necessary to change even quicker. Congratulations on your next baby!

By the time I was 7 weeks pregnant with my oldest I had to go shopping and buy maternity clothes and loose the heals and business suits I was wearing. I just got big with him. With my daughter...I didn't show for a few more weeks but in the end my system went Toxic and I ended up gaining over 80 lbs. Sometimes they just sit a bit differant.
Good luck but talk to the doctor and if he/she doesn't ahve a problem don't worry about.
Good luck
Chelle

Hi Nancy,
Congratulations!! I am 11 weeks along. I have an eight year old daughter so I have forgotten what it is like to be pregnant also. I have went online and found some nice pregnany websites that you can put your due date in and they send you weekly emails about that week. It is kind of nice. From what I can remember they say that it is because your body is preparing itself for the pregnancy. One of the websites is www.welcomebabyhome.com. The other is www.babyzone.com. I hope this helps!

Isn't it amazing how quickly it happens the second time??? It's totally normal. I remember feeling the same way when I was pregnant the 2nd time, I could only wear elastic waist pants from 8 weeks on! Your abdomen has been stretched once before and it has an incredible memory the next time!!!

Yes, this also happened to me I was about 6 weeks and already looking at my smaller size maternity clothes cause nothing would fit. It does go back down a little after about week 12 and then it's normal growth after that. I think the body just says oh yeah I remember what we do now and cabloooy your huge. But I am now at week 18 and still haven't even gained back all the weight I lost during the morning sickness phase. So I really wouldn't worry too much about your weight more then likely it's not weight it's swelling.

Hi Nancy,
Congrat's on your new little one! Depending on how close the pregnancies are, yes you will show a lot sooner than you did with the first. You're body already knows what it's doing this time around, and if your son is anything less than 2 years old, your uterus hasn't fully recovered from last time.
My best friend looked 7 months pregnant at about 3 months because it was less than 1 year from one pregnancy to the next.

Oh yes! You are right on target my dear! With my first, I had "outgrown" my regular pants starting around eight or nine weeks. I knew I was pregant with my second at about four weeks, and it was that quick that I had again "outgrown" my normal clothes. I am very active coaching figure roller skating, and I eat pretty healthy. I gained 60 pounds with my first, and ended up with a nine pounds, 15 ounces, 22 inches long baby girl. With my second, I gained 50 pounds, and ended up with a nine pounds, 11 ounces, 22 inches long baby girl. They are 27 months apart, and I kept ten pounds from the first pregnancy (which I've read is very common, normal, and healthy). I have also heard that moms get to a certain weight with each pregnancy... the SAME certain weight. Mine was 190 pounds!!! Don't worry, though. You're pregnant so you're beautifu! Good luck. Eat right, excercise, and get as much rest as you can before your new little one arrives. ;o)

I do not think it is odd at all. I only have one child but all my friends with 2 showed much earlier with thier second (I guess the room was already made for them by thier big brother or sister). My girlfriend is 8 weeks right now with her second and while she is a very small woman you can see the belly starting to show.

I think it's pretty normal. With my first I didn't buy any maternity clothes until the very very end of my pregnancy. With my second I was in maternity-wear the day after I found out I was pregnant -- give or take... ;). It sort of comes with the territory I hear. Congratulations and good luck!!

I sooo know what you mean! I am pregnant with my 3rd and had to pull out my old "fat" clothes at 9 weeks and had to go into maternity pants at 16 weeks as my pouch was just out there!! I was hoping that I was showing soo early as it was twins, but unfortunately, there is just one in there Since I had my son less than 19 months when I was first pregnant it was very normal to show that early as the uturs has not “shrunken” back to normal size. Plus this little guy or girl wanted to show off to the world that he/she was coming along. About 24 weeks along I started to "balanced out.” Just remember it is for a very good & loving cause. Hang in there, the Fun has just begun!

Get used to it. It's just the way it is. I was showing at about 8 weeks myself. I've only gained 10 lbs at last check about a month ago and I look like I have a basketball out front. I am at week 26 now. I fear I'll look like I'm carrying twins in another month or 2.

Yeah, I think it's just that your body knows what it's doing this time around. With my second, I could no longer button my jeans by 6 weeks, but I had only gained 4 pounds.

I was popping at 6 weeks with my second. I finally broke down and busted out the maternity clothes at 8 weeks. That was a little freaky, but it was actually kinda nice to show so early and get 'the treatment' for a little longer! You know, when people go out of their way to do nice things for you because they see that you are pregnant. That treatment. Embrace it, girlfriend!

Congratulations Nancy. Think of how hard it is to blow up a baloon for the first time. It is hard and a bit slow-going. But if you deflate it and try to blow it up again, it regains it inflated shape very easily. That's you and every other woman who is pregnant with their second+ children...you pop out easier/sooner after the first time.
Good for you for not looking at the scale. I haven't looked at a scale since my first child was born 8 years ago...and whenever I was pregnant I asked the doctors/nurses to keep weight/numbers to themselves and just tell me if I the baby/my tummy were growing ok (not too much/nor too little...but too little was never a problem for me :)
Best wishes for a great pregnancy and healthy delivery!

One of my early "warning" signs that I was pregnant was that my stomach got very firm when pressed. I never showed very much with either of my girls. However, I think I also noticed some early popping as well. It seems like I remember the Ultrasound tech commenting on a little mound when I went in for an ultrasound at 6 weeks. My hips never did go back to normal after my first daughter, so that was never an issue. You could call your OB if you are really concerned. The scale isn't going to really tell you much more than you already know - you're growing and that is part of pregnancy.

Nancy, keep in mind that you stretched out all those muscles and stuff with the first child, therefore it is easier to stretch the second time around.
On my third pregnancy, I kept telling myself that I popped so early because of my first two kids - turned out it was twins.
You probably don't have any worry there though, ask your Dr. if you are worried about it.
If it is twins, you will servive (mine are 10 yrs now). There are great twin groups in the area

With my second and third, I think I started to show right about the time the test turned positive! LOL! It's almost as if your body knows what to do and lets go a little sooner. I know that sounds crazy, but everybody I know started to show faster and faster after the first pregnancy. I didn't show with my first until close to 5 months!!

When is your first appt with the dr? You may possibly be having more than one if you are showing this soon. If it turns out that you are having more than one, email me and I can put you in contact with your local mothers of twins/multiples group. It is a support group for mothers of twins, triplets and more. Good luck and definately let us know.

I gained 38 pounds with my first pregnancy and 25 pounds with my second pregnancy, but I was wearing maternity clothes at 6 weeks with baby #2. I think that your body just remembers what to do and just starts stretching at the right places. It's completely normal.

It's not a weight thing honey, it's an already stretched out area. Any pressure from the inside and it's able to move out. More than half of my pants weren't fitting BEFORE I even suspected that I was pregnant with our 4th. Our tummies aren't super strong for holding shape in anymore.
Congrats!

I am 11.5 weeks with #2, and starting to get a little tummy, I have only gained 1 lb so far, but I have really been too sick to eat a lot. Maybe you are pregnant with twins? it could also be water because it is summer. by this time with my first pregnancy I was already too big to fit into my jeans, every pregnancy is different. Just mention it to your doctor/midwife at your next appt.
congrats

By the time I was 2 month preg, with my second child, I looked like I was about 5 or 6 months preg, good luck I recommed if u are on your feet alot to wear support hose because I now thanks to 3 times the amount of amniotic fluid have horrible vericose veins ( so bad my surgery is scheduled for Aug 4th) just a little FYI to save you as sexy of legs as I have now haha!
