D.T.
I have it, a severe case, and would be glad to share personal info with you. If you would like, feel free to email me privately. I have had two children with fertility treatments, so I have knowledge of PCOS in that side of things too.
At a recent visit to my OB, she mentioned she thought I might have PCOS. Have any of yall ever herd of it, have it or know anything about it or how to treat it??. I fit almost all the symptoms of it, actually I have them all, not mild or severe symtoms in the middle though. Any advice would be really helpful!

Yes many woman have it, and I found out I had it about 8 yrs ago.
You can still have children but it is harder, and you can be High Risk. I was lucky to have had 2 children now 2 and 3 1/2. I doubt I could have any more but I am happy and blessed woth the 2 God gave me.
It is a hard battle and it makes it difficult to lose weight.
I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance. My pancreas produces too much insulin and causes female pain and bleeding. With Diabetic medicine it lowers my insulin to normal levels and I can lead
basiclly a normal life. If I forget a dose I pay for it.
But its better than having to take insulin shots later in life.
My Ob told me that if your pancreas works too hard than eventually it will quit and thats when they find you are diabetic and need insulin shots. And I don't want to do that.
So if they find thats what you have they may put you on medicine for it. I took it for 3 years and the medicine also increases
your chances of getting PG. So when I met my husband
my body was doing good being on the medicine for so long.
But when I was PG my insulin went the other way and I didn't have enough so I had to take insulin pills. Then the day I delivered they tested me again and it dropped and I nolonger had to take the insulin pills. After breastfeeding I had to go back on the medicine to keep my insulin down like before I got PG.
It can also cause acne in woman, hair growth below the chin,
female problems etc. Feel free to send me a email, if you like.
Its a up and down battle and I don't know anyone else that has it,
but I have read many websites about it and what I been through.
Good luck !
I was diagnosed with PCOS 4 years ago when I tried to get pregnant with my son. I had a few of the symptoms, but not many. I had to use meds to get prengant with him, but I was lucky and got pregnant during the first cycle of chlomid. For me, the worst thing is the facial hair. It does make it really hard to lose weight, but I have been watching what I eat and exercising and VERY slowly the weight comes off. My doctor told me that if you lose you weight it can help you reduce some of the symptoms. There is no cure for it and it can be a precursor to diabetes. To really know if you have PCOS your doc will have to to an ultrasound to llok at your ovaries.
Feel free to email me with any questions.

C.,
I have PCOS and just gave birth to my beautiful daughter. I would be delighted to talk to you about my experiences and advice I have for you. My first suggestion is to talk with your primary care physician. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com
While trying to get pg, I discovered that I had PCOS. As another poster said, the only way to confirm it is to have an ultrasound. My ovaries had tiny dark spots (cysts) in them. I was able to get pg through IVF, and so far (7 months pg), I haven't had any complications.
You'll also need to determine if you are insilin resistant. Those of us (me included) that struggle to lose weight because of PCOS is due to insilin resistance. You can take insilin meds (mine was metformin), but for years, my symptoms went undetected by using the birth control pill.
One of my Best Friends has been struggling w/it in years. She is VERY over weight and can not lose weight no matter what she does.
She is VERY Depressed cause of it and wants a child VERY badly but knows that she will be in high risk if she conceives. She is a WONDERFUL person and she deserves nothing but the Best and it just tears me up seeing her that way and not being to have children, she would be the Best mother.
Here is one website that might help you.
Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.
I also have pcos. I havent had a period or mentral cycle. I may have them every once a year but not to often. I dont have insurance so I havent went and got anything else checked out but I have been told it is a blockage in an ovary that cause the eggs to bust and not flow right. I am one that really wants kids and would love to see if removing the blockage would help me with my menstral cycle and help me with getting pregnant and have a baby. If you have anything that would help me figure out how to fix it i would really appreciate it. I want kids so bad, my entire family is about having babies and im the only one left that their waiting for we love babies and it breaks my heart cause ive always wanted kids and im afraid that i cant have them. I cry every night cause I ask myself why me? By the way my name is K. and im from Indiana. Please let me know my email is ____@____.com can talk on there is any questions or answers. please get ahold of me. Thank you for your time and concern. Hope you figure everything out for yourself. Its literally put me through hell. I want a baby more than anything. Good luck and thank you.
