PLEASE Help Me with Doctor Info!

I have recently fallen on hard times and have lost my insurance. I have my daughter on a medical plan through medicaid and it seems to me that decent doctors are hard to find. My daughter has been sick for going on 3 weeks now, she has now had a fever for 4 days solid, refused to eat, and is barely drinking. I can not find a doctor that will help me!!!! Medicaid gave me contact information for a few more doctors that accept the plan in the area but I don't want to start the process over again with a new doctor unless I know they're worth a damn. I am going to include my suggested list and I would really appreciate it if you would voice your opinion if you have any experience or knowledge of one of these doctors. I know this is not your child and not your concern, but I'm so scared for my daughter and I would really appreciate someone's help. The doctors are: Dr. William Smith in Lewisville, Dr. Stephen Schulman in Denton, Dr. Ochei in Lewisville, and Dr. Hossman on Teasley in Denton. Thank you for your time.

I don't know the dr's on your list. But I found my dr through medicaid and love her! It's Dr. Farah Naz in Carrollton, and I also like the other dr, Dr. Harris. My ODS isn't on Medicaid anymore but I still take him there, and now my newborn goes there as well. They don't take traditional medicaid, though. You didn't mention if that's what you have or not. The # is ###-###-####. The office is on Hebron Pkwy (3040), less than a 10 minute drive from Vista Ridge Mall. I figured in case you didn't get any responses (or bad ones) about the dr's you asked for, you at least have another dr to keep in mind:)

I had a bad experience with Schulman with my son about 8 yrs ago. He may have changed. I use Pecan Creek Pediatrics now and LOVE THEM. Dr Harris is great. Are they on your list?

Double check with Shulman, I was told he doesn't take medicaid or was possibly full? But I have heard good reviews of him if you can get in there. Also, we see Dr. Perry in Sanger and he is a medicaid provider. He is a family physician but my girls like him. And it seems he's a million times easier to get into than pediatricians.

I also wanted to tell you that I have had this same thing happen to me. When your child is that sick it takes incredibly too long to find and get an appt with a new medicaid dr. Take her in to the ER! They will see you, its covered on medicaid. Your child's health is so much more important than the hassles of medicaid run-around. Good luck, hope she feels better soon.

You've already gotten good responses on doctors. Just FYI, Cook Children's North and South in Denton accept Medicaid. I personally take my daughter (19 months) to Dr. Milt Squiers at Cook Children's North. My husband and I know him on a personal level as well as a professional level and trust him fully. I pray you can get your daughter in asap and that they identify the problem and she can heal quickly.

God's Grace to you,

Lisa :)

I have several friends who go to Dr. Schulman in Denton and really like him and think very highly of him and his practice. Actually most people I know either see the Goffs or Schulman.

I thought you meant Hoffman on Teasley. I don't like that office at all. Not sure about the rest of the docs on your list. Don't be afraid to speak up to the doc and ask alot of questions.

Dr. Schulman and Dr. Hossman are both fine doctors in Denton. PLease take care of your daughter, worse case take her to an urgent care if she is not taking in fluids. Best of health to you both!

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with any of the doctors on your list. Does Medicaid cover urgent care clinics? If it does, there is a fantastic one, just for children in FM, called A-Cute Care for Kids. A pedi is always there to see your child. You could always just take your daughter to the ER, if you are really concerned. After 4 days of constant fever, I'm sure you are. Good luck to you and I will say a prayer for your daughter.

Take her to the emergency room. If she has stopped eating & drinking and still has fever, she could easily dehydrate.
TAKE HER TO THE ER as soon as possible. I bet Cooks Children Hospital would be happy to take her and you can figure out the payment part later.

I hope she gets better in a hurry ...
