I bought white cotton socks and used iDye cotton to make them bright pink. It worked great....they were very bright and pretty. I took them from the washer and soaked them in vinegar for 24 hours so the dye would set really well. Then I put them in the washer and ran a rinse load to make sure and get all the extra pink out. Prior to that I ran an empty load in the washer and then did several loads of laundry. When I washed the socks, I added some other baby clothes, and several of my son's bibs and outfits. Now anything with any white on it has a pink tint. I rewashed them and it didn't come out. So, now mama's, I need help. How do I make my baby boy's clothes not pink? I wouldn't care so much, but his bibs are brand new...Its only the second time I had washed them. Thanks in advance.
The color catcher does work if you put it in prior to washing, but I don't know if it works after the fact. Worth try I guess.
the Brand "Shout" makes something called "color catcher."
Google search it.
Its suppose to work.
I don't know if it is for while washing, or if it is for already stained clothing.
Red bled onto my granddaughter's t-shirt. I used OxyClean the next time I washed it and most of the pink came out. I soaked it in OxyClean overnight before washing it.
I learned by experience that you cannot ever wash home dyed clothes with any other clothes because the dye will always bleed. You could try using a color catcher cloth when you wash them. It might catch the color so that it doesn't bleed onto other clothes. But I would only try it with clothes you don't care about.
I can't stand stains and dull colors, and use Arm & Hammer Oxi Gel Detergent, and a couple of Shout Stain Catchers in the wash load. Even with the set-in dye if you use these on them a few times you should be able to get the pink out, I have.
Soak the baby clothes in oxy clean at least 24 hours - usually does the trick for me.
You can use Color Rid its a small bottle at the store but put it in with dyed clothes and its supposed to work.
Colorsafe bleach.
I pour it straight on and rub, then run the load. It pulls the "extra" color out, but leaves the original color.
If they're white, though, you have you answer easy; bleach.
