Go for that second opinion, that should be a last result. She is so young, to be having that happen you know that sometimes they control fibrids with birthcontrol. Just a thought
My best friend had fibroid surgery (D & C) about a month ago and she just got her first period since then and she is now going on day 6 with very heavy bleeding and she says its just getting worse, she has clots the size of a quarter. She also told me that she was beelding from her urinary hole (sorry for the terms) as well. Shes not scared but I am for her. She is going to the doctor tomm but is this normal after fibroid surgery??
Well my friend went to the Dr today and not so good news for her! The Dr. told her she has more fibroids and would take years of surgery to remove them! The Dr. told her if she wants another baby to do so now! She doesn't so the Dr. is giving her a hysterecotomy at the age of 29! I told her get a second opinion!

When my last baby was six weeks, I had a tubal ligation and a D & C at the same time, I bled heavily (under doctor's care) for weeks, I also passed masses, some golf ball size, it was very upsetting...Went in for a follow up and exam showed nothing abnormal........Make sure your friend has had a follow-up pelvic exam, also she's taking supplements (iron, etc), and extra fluid intake....it is a very yucky thing!
Im not sure if its normal. My pregnancies and D&C's didnt have anything like this. Passing several large clots is not so great. The fact that after 6 days the bleeding is getting worse is not great. I dont want to sound like an alarmist but she should get to her Dr. and tell the Dr all of this. Bleeding from the urethra can be anything from a UTI or PID, or a uterine tear which could have happened during the D&C.
Hi. I know this is a late response but I have fibroids and follow a Yahoo chat room for people with fibroids. There are many wonderful fibroid specialists, particularly one in NJ, and she can get some very valuable information. I've learned a lot on the chat room including the fact that a hysterectomy is a typical suggestion from a doctor that cannot remove fibroids via a myomectomy. A hysterectomy can have terrible consequences on the life of the person who has one.
