Hi ladies,
I BF my baby until he was 7 months old. Now its been over 2 months and I still haven't had my first post-baby period. I took a pregnancy test and am not pregnant. Is this normal? With my first son I BF him too and had my period 6 weeks after birth even while still nursing so this is new to me.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies, I think I'm just paranoid because right before this last c-section they accidentally wrote on my paperwork that I was going to have a tubal ligation (tubes tied) at the same time and I totally freaked out because I'm not done having kids.I told my doctor about 100 times that I didnt want that done. I also had gallbladder removal surgery when this baby was 3 months old so theres a whole pile of stuff my body has been traumatized by.
Thanks for the responses! :-)

For now, enjoy it! I BFd for 14.5 months, got my period 2 weeks later, and got pregnant (it took us forever the first time). So do be cautious about fertility if you don't want to get pregnant right now, but otherwise, enjoy the break...your body is just trying to get into balance again.

Totally normal. I started weaning my daughter at a year, was completely done by month 13. Now she is 14 1/2 months and I still haven't had a period. With my first daughter I got mine back right at 12 months so both times with me it takes a while. I have heard it can take up to 3 months after you are done BF for your period to return. Remember each pregnancy is different and all babies are different too so don't worry about it too much but I know how you feel. It's kinda weird to go so long without a period.

My first thought would be, how are night feedings going? My period came back at 4 months, and my daughter started sleeping through the night at 3 months. With my second, it came back at 6 or 7 months, and my son never really did sleep through the night until 10 months. Sometimes night feeding can affect it.

Other than that, I'd say don't worry about it. Having a period come back at 6 weeks is actually a little on the shorter side of normal, I'd say. I don't want to say it's abnormal, because I don't know what the exact range for average is. But just as with babies' development, there is a big range of normal for women and postpartum first periods. I know women who don't get one until after their baby is a year--whether they nurse at night or not. It all depends on the woman.

So I'd say, rejoice that you don't need pads yet. It will start soon enough!

I breastfed for a year, and didn't get my period until 3 months after I weaned. And the first month wasn't much more than spotting. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi! I breastfed until my daughter was 15 months, and I didn't get my period til she was around 18 months old! My mom said she had her period within four months of having each of my sisters and me, and she breastfed each of us for a year to a year and a half, like I did. We're all different! I sure enjoyed not having my period for that time, I tell you that!
