Hi Mamas,
We recently moved about half an hour away from my 2nd grade daughter's best friend. Obviously we can still do some occasional visits, but their school schedules are different enough that it's no more than once a month. They're kind of young to do much talking on the phone, but they are at an age when getting mail is really fun. It wouldn't have to be with every letter, but I thought it might be fun to sometimes send a little surprise with the letter as well. So far my ideas are stickers and silly bandz, but I thought I'd see if anyone else had some ideas for small, fun things to include. I remember trading recipes back and forth with a friend of mine when I was younger, but I think we were in 4th or 5th grade and older at the time. Also, what are some good sources for interesting stickers? I find them at Target sometimes but they either have the same thing all the time for the birthday favor-type stickers or they have the scrapbooking stickers which are a little out of the price range I had in mind, plus usually those come on sheets too big to go in an envelope.
Thanks Mamas!

Yes, dollar store is good for stickers.

I was also thinking of temporary tattoos. Perhaps chuckee cheese tokens if that is in the area. Perhaps some kind of Coupon for a Wendy's frosty/McDonalds ice cream cone? We have 7-elevens here in Michigan that do slurpee coupons not sure what you have in your area that may have something like that if you don't have a 7-eleven there.

Oriental Trading has a good variety. Also stationary stores in the mall usually have them.

start a "Friends Journal"......& have the girls pass it back/forth! It's a great way to keep the friendship going.....& we use one for our whole family- cousins & all! I use just a spiral-bound notebook.....but there's lots of really cute ones out there.... make it fun!

I know our Dollar Tree store has great stickers. Also a store like Party City. You could do temporary tattoos, little best friends necklaces/bracelettes where your daughter keeps half and mails the other half, little charms for necklaces or charm bracelettes, bookmarks, etc. Also, a really cute thing that isn't expensive are sock grams. Go check out www.sockgrams.com. The girls are at great ages for those!!! =0)
