Please help me - I am expecting my first child in January and recently moved to Rowlett. I found a couple of wonderful doctors in Frisco, and while I am willing to drive there for my son to have the best care, I worry about not being close in case of an emergency. I met with a doctor in Rockwall yesterday and I will not be using him. I know there must be some good doctors in this area. I would like to find a doctor that is open to alternative medicine and not insist on giving my child antibiotic after antibiotic and will listen to my concerns. I also want a doctor that will not call me "cruel" or "selfish" if I decide to delay some of his vaccines. I am still learning and researching different medical approaches and I will definitely admit that I can be wrong. I just want a doctor that will at least appear to value my opinion and discuss options with me. The doctor yesterday had the attitude of "my way or the highway" and told me "good luck" if I wanted to find a doctor that would talk to me about delaying vaccines. He even got up to leave when "time was up" and he had done all of the talking. I had other questions I wanted to ask about the office hours, hospitals he uses, etc, but I didn't want to chase after him when I knew I wouldn't be bringing my son there anyway. I don't think I acted like we were done and I would not be using him. He even said "Can't wait to meet your son" as he was walking out. I do not want a doctor that will not stay to discuss my child with me because his time was up.
I'm really discouraged right now. Thanks so much for the help.

Try calling Pediatric Associates of Wylie. I am friends with Dr. Lanman and she is just amazing. Although she may not be taking new patients, but the other two doctors in the practice are great too. They are all women and they are very gentle, caring and listen to you. I am a photographer and have a display in their office and go in quite often and they always take a moment to talk to me and my daughter even when they have a TON of patients. My daughter is also a patient of Dr. Lanman's and loves going to see her. You can just feel a difference when you walk into the office.

"I just want a doctor that will at least appear to value my opinion and discuss options with me."

Unfortunately, Dr. Granger with Lake Ray Hubbard Pediatrics is not that Dr.

He is a fine Dr. for your typical, run-of-the-mill parent. (He seems to work off a mental checklist for ALL his patients. His way - not options.)

But for us alternative-type parents, whether it be delayed vaccines, pediatric chiropractic care, or different approaches to vitamins and solid food, Dr. Granger is not "flexible" enough for us.

Dr. Ianelli in the same practice is very controversial. He has "missed" diagnosing illnesses on quite a few of my friends children. I can send you details in a private message.

One time, we were seen by Dr. Smart, also in the same practice. Liked her alot, but she is not accepting new patients.

All that being said, we are still with the practice until we find the perfect or near-perfect fit. The staff is very friendly and the office is clean. I love the separate sick visit and well visit entrances.

Hello K.. I'm not sure how my son's pedi would "fit" with your needs but I still thought maybe you could check him out. I also moved to The Rowlett neighborhood from out of state and had no relatives or someone to recommend me a doctor for my son. I asked my gyno and she told me that her son's doctor was great, his name is Doctor David Granger. He is in Rowlett, almost ROckwall. The office is always flexible and they have Sat hours for emergencies. Also the nurse/doctor on call during off hours are always helpful and polite. Dr. Granger saw my son the day after he was born and has been seeing him ever since. My son is now 14 months old. His office is "Lake Ray Hubbard Pediatrics", hope it helps. It's off of Lakeview Pkwy.

There is a Doctor office right off of Hwy 66 called Lakeray Hubbard Pediactrics. I take my little girl there. They have 3 doctors to choose from,I use Dr.Ianelli. He has written books and has his own website about childcare and things of the sort. I'm not sure if he's ok with delaying vaccines but he doesnt force you into anything and he's always been very patient. Im sure he would listen to your concers and think of alternative ways to care for your child if you dont want to use antibiotics. Never hurt to try atleast :)

K.,

We go to Lake Ray Hubbard Pediatrics on Hwy 66 at Dalrock. We've seen Dr. Ianelli and Stacy Humphreys. Both great.
