I have a house cleaner that is fantastic that comes once a week and I pay her 60 bucks to clean a 1000 sq ft apt. It is small but 2 levels. I am 8 and a half months pregnant and she offered to do the babys new clothes seperate from ours at her house. It is a full laundry bag full of clothes and sheets. I would say... maybe 4 loads and I gave her detergent. My question is. How much would you pay?She is going to drop it off to my house as well. I don't want to be cheap cause it is a big help!!! Anyone know ?? thanks sooo much!

What can I do next?

Price what it costs to have laundry done at a local laundromat. In NYC, they do pick up and drop off, and folding, and charge either by the bag or by the pound. That will help you with establishing a base price.

You are lucky to have this lady.

Since she offered she may have wanted to do this as nice gesture. I would offer her between $25 - $50 dollars depending on your budget. When I say "offer", I mean ASK her if you could at least reimburse her for the use of her washer and dryer. How long has she been with your family?

Blessings....

$10. A load. I assume she will also bring them back all folded?

I'd pay $50. It sounds like this is a one time thing -- she's just washing the new clothes, right?

Why did you not negotiate a rate with her upfront so that you knew what her expectations were?

Call a local laundry service and find out what they would charge, then drop it a bit b/c you will be paying her cash.

Just a couple of thoughts, though...
- Baby spit-up stains, so you will be doing laundry far more than once a week. You can save the non-stained items for her to do, but when my son was an infant I was doing his laundry every-other-day. Unless you have tons of sheets, you will too!
- IF you are going to keep the bulk of it for her to do, make sure you soak the stained items in a water/OxyClean until she picks them up.

This is a big help, but probably not as much work for her as you are imagining. My guess is that an extra $15-$20 per week would cover her gas, time and the water bill at her house.

I think $25 total is enough. It takes a lot of little baby clothes to fill a washer. A majority of her time will be spent folding with just a few minutes doing the washing and drying. You could always ask her how much she'd think is fair for her time and work.
