I just threw away my daughter's last pacifier and now I'm worried. I was planning on stopping this
Habit soon anyway because she will be 2 soon. Alyssa is very attached to pacifiers, how do I distract her
From asking for it? Are there flavored teething rings? I was trying to trade the pacifier for a freezer teething ring. I
Think this will be a long weekend! Thank you!

What can I do next?

She will probably cry when it's time to go to bed. But the longer you put it off the harder it will be. I took my son off his at 10-11 months and it was hard then. I can't imagine at almost two. If you trade anything else for it she'll just get attached to that and it'll be something else you'll have to get her off of. I wouldnt suggest that. Just try and comfort her as much as you can. It is going to be hard, but you will be glad when it's all over with. Good luck!!!

Just keep being tough. You'll have a hard go of it, for just a little bit. If you give it back, it will really cause more problems. She'll get over it soon enough, if you don't respond to it.

Instead of giving her something else to chew/suck on, maybe a new doll or a special blanket as a lovey?

Well, now that it is gone, I guess you have to just buckle down and go with the flow this weekend. I would imagine I will be hard for probably a week. I did the exact same thing with my 1st daughter at 17 mos, cold turkey. She cried hard at naptime and bedtime for a week and a half. I almost gave in, I felt so bad. I tried to de-binkie my 2nd daughter at about 19 mos. which she was only using at night and for naps. She really had a hard time, crying and was truly distraught. I checked my motives and honestly I made the decision to give it back to her the same day I took it away. I told her "mommy made a mistake." She is now almost 28 mos. and I have been snipping the end off the paci nipple a little bit more every week. She hardly uses it now. She does have a favorite blankie too still.

I think that if you really want it gone, then stick to your guns and wait it out. It will be hard, but whenever we help our kids go to the next level, there is pain involved, for them and for us! Hang in there, you can do it and so can she! :)

Did she know you did it. I guess I am an old fashioned kind of girl, because
I don't get crazy about things like a paci. Now I do no think they should be
walking around with this thing in their mouth, but if they need it to sleep so be
it. In my house, around 22 months I gradually started to wean them off the
paci. Then is was naps and night time. Then just night time. Worked fine
here. By 2 1/2 - 3 yo the paci was gone. No tears. They knew the end
was coming LOL. You have to do what works best for you. Good luck.

If you want to give her something else to be attached to, make sure it's not something she's going to suck on :) A new doll for being a 'big girl' might be incentive.

Just ignore her. The less you talk about it, the better it will be. I would NOT give her another object to get attached to. It's all gone.
