Hi Moms,

This is pregnancy # 4 for me. ALL of my other babies were SO easy to carry and hardly ever active. I mean they were active but "normal" active, not to where I was in pain from their punches and kicks like this one. Even as I sit here typing, I can not get comfortable. She kicks and rolls, pushes & punches me SOOOO hard, it almost doesn't seem normal, sometimes I'll yell out loud in pain from the sudden jams I get from her. I keep asking my OB if it's "normal" and he says yes but I just find it hard to believe this is normal and there's not something that might be stimulating this painfull movement from her. I've been able to feel her movement since 17 weeks, with my previous pregnancies, I didn't normally feel movement until after 20 weeks. Can anyone relate to what I'm going through? Did your baby come out just as active when he/she was born? It's getting to the point where I'm not comfortable sitting, standing, walking, ANYTIME she's this active nothing I do seems to make her stop. Please reassure me that everything is "ok" with my baby, it's driving me nuts! Thanks moms!!

What can I do next?

I think this is normal. My son moved all the time, but it was never painful. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was actually concerned on several occasions because she didn't move much at all - but let me tell you, when she did kick I usually doubled over in pain. My son has been wild from the beginning, but my daughter was very quiet and content. Good luck!

I started feeling my son move at 15 weeks. He would kick so hard for hours on end. I would frequently get comments from nurses and my doctor, that he was the most active baby they'd ever seen. It would certainly hurt at times!!
He is now almost 16 months and has been the exact same outside of my belly. He is SO busy!!!

Congrats on baby no 4.
Our first daughter was calm in the womb; in fact so calm the doc thought she had passed until he did the heart monitor. Today, she is a calm teenager...always has been cool calm and collected. After many years of trying we finally got pregnant again and had our precious second girl in 2009. OMG! She was busy all the time in the womb. Kicks hurt something awful, the stretching, rotating, etc. the only time she slept was from 5am to 10am. Rubbing my stomach when she kicked didn't help just seemed like a game to her. Since being born she has always been active; even at 19 months now she is freakin' busy and loves to kick...go figure...lol Overall I do love how she keeps me on my toes and keeping my cardio up is a must. I just make sure to do a lot of creative activites with her so that way she is ready for nap and bedtime. So no worries...your baby is fine, healthy, and active...and you only have a few more weeks to go before your little angel is in your arms.

My DD was super active! I have some awesome videos of my stomach going crazy with her movements! lol. It did get painful at times, but I loved it. The worst part was during delivery... She was out to her SHOULDERS when she started flailing around and pushed herself back up! My doc and the nurses all looked at each other in total shock and just busted out laughing... (wasn't so funny to me at the time... OUCH!!!) Took another 15 minutes of pushing to get her back to that point... turned out she fractured her clavicle doing that too. It really sucked at the time, but now I have a funny story to tell her. :)

I can TOTALLY relate! My 5th child was like that - people would comment and literally stop to watch my "belly dance"! It was quite entertaining to everyone! I actually felt the first flutters at 10 weeks! Every night from then on I could feel him. By 15 weeks he was getting pretty wild! :) He was a quick delivery - dr. called him rocket baby. and from then on ( now 14months old) he's been on the go! He was climbing on furniture by 8months and yesterday he scaled the kitchen counter!! Wow!! My other 4 did not prepare me for this little guy! But, I have to say he has a very happy temperment - never fussy since birth. Probably b/c he is self sufficient or finds a way to entertain himself :)
Good luck swaddling her!!! :)

I really think in utero activity is very telling... I'd have described my daughter the same way you are describing your baby--and she came out active and hasn't stopped in 4 years!! She actually has a very low resting heart rate, which her ped. told me was a trait of great athletes. Just hope she gets too big to move much soon! Best wishes!

I don't want to scare you, but I swear to people the earliest sign our son had ADHD was in the womb. He seriously did not stop kicking or punching, even when he got lodged in my ribs (and that made him REALLY angry). It was 24/7 action movie in there! I was miserable and it figured, I went nine days overdue so I had bonus misery. Even my OB was shocked at how active our son was toward the end of the pregnancy. He was active as an infant, quickly kicking himself out of the tightest of swaddling. When he slept, he moved all over the crib. He then became the toddler and preschooler who was the Energizer Bunny.

Our second child was much more normal in the womb and I even got to sleep at night. Her activity level has been nothing like her brother's.

To me, I've seen a direct correlation between womb activity and the child's activity level. Get those running shoes out because you'll be doing a lot of chasing! She's going to be ok, just very spirited! :)

I agree with the other answers...it really is totally normal for some babies! Mine 3rd was the same way! He had a couple of "favorite" spots to kick & I literally ended up being bruised because of it! Now he's 1 1/2 & is still a mover & a shaker! My mom suggested sitting in the rocking chair & literally rocking him to sleep! She said she did this when she was pregnant with me (I was quite a kicker & mover too). Once I got still, she would gently ease into the bed so I didn't wake up & she'd get a couple hours of sleep...you might try it! Best of luck!

Yup, hate to say it but my son was the same way! He was so crazy busy in utero and I never got any respit. I was miserable by the time he came! He's 11 months old tomorrow and is so stinkin' busy still that I still feel exhausted! ;) Good luck!

Yep, it's totally normal. I was bruised with my second who kicked SOOO hard it made me cry on several ocassions, totally not fun for the mom and the bigger they get the more it hurts of course. It will end soon and contrary to others, my son wasn't/isn't abnormally active outside the uterus...so don't worry too much about that correlation because it's not always true. I did go 12 days overdue though so he was in no rush to break free either! Good luck!

While back you had a post about not feeling baby move for couple of days and now she would not stop:) I am 31 weeks with our 3rd. My 2 boys are VERY active now but were "normal" as far as moving goes in the utero. This girl, I am telling you, sometimes it feels like a tornado :)
