One Year Old and Formula Question

My son turned one a week ago. We're transitioning him to whole milk right now. We started on his birthday with one ounce of milk to 4 ounces formula, he seems to be doing fine, so we're doing 1/2 and 1/2 now. We just ran out of formula and I am probably silly in asking this, but is it still OK to buy and give him the formula since we're still transitioning him? I guess I'm just worried because it says right on the tub, 0-12 months. Is it OK if he is still having some formula for the next week or so? I know there probably isn't anything terrible that will happen if my 1 year and one week baby has formula past the "deadline" - but I'm just wondering. ;-) TIA moms.

What can I do next?

If he is not having cramps, gas, or diarrhea I would go ahead and see if he can handle the whole milk before going all the way to the store for a can of formula. But I only say that because you have him at 50/50. Otherwise I would say go get the formula.

Oh my...do yourself a favor and just give him milk.

We went cold turkey 100% formula to 100% milk with both kids. Neither of them balked at it or had issues. Most people I know did the same.
If you have a concern about a milk allergy, that's one thing. But if you haven't seen a reaction to what you've given him so far, he's fine.

Stop the lengthy blending process. It has no benefit for him and it just takes you longer to do it.
He'll be fine on 100% milk.

Formula will not hurt him at all, many babies drink it well past the age of one. The guideline simply means it is ok to give cows milk at one, not that you can not give formula after one.

Just give him whole milk. Why spend the money on formula.

We just switched over when the last can nearest the first birthday ran out. Neither of my boys ever liked to drink milk by itself though. I didn't either as a child, so I have always given them orange and apple juices fortified with calcium, leafy greens, yogurt and cheese. They've been fine! It certainly won't hurt your child to have formula past age one for a few weeks, but why pay for it?

If you are out of formula them just go straight whole milk.

It is totally fine. There is also "toddler formula" you can buy now. No worries. We did the same thing you did when our daughter was one and eventually she was on all milk (maybe this was at 15 months? Hard to remember). We transitioned her off bottles a month or so before she turned two. The formula is just fine even after your child is one.

I gave my daughter a mixture of formula and milk for several months after she turned one. There is no "deadline" that happens when they turn one year old ;-)
