List it in the FREE section on Craigslist and I am sure someone in need will have the desire to fix it up. I know we have listed stuff for free before and someone always comes and has a definite plan and idea for the item. You never know:)
Hello =)
I have a couch and love seat about 9 years old. For their age, they don't look too terrible -- no sucken couches. However, they are torn and need repairing. I have been searching for the last few months to reupholster them but it is out of my budget. My next idea was to donate them but no one will accept them because of their condition. Does anyone know of a service that will donate their services repair furniture that will be given as a donation? It seems such a shame to throw them away.

I work for Big Brothers Big Sisters and we have a Donation Center. If you contact them at ###-###-####- they should pick it up and then we get comission from Savers- you get the tax write off and you get to help a family in need!
Leave it out by the curb during bulk trash pickup week and someone will come by and grab it before the trash man cometh. It goes to someone who apparently needs it and you don't have to go through much effort!
Check out cost of reupholster through ACI - Arizona Correctional Industries...it might be affordable.
I'm planning to have them refinish a desk and noticed they do upholstery.
Have you tried freecycle.com?
I had those. for a couple of years I had mine covered with decorative sheets. I looked often at thrift stores and picked up 4 king size sheets all the same. It was great because I could remove them and wash them. the pain was adjusting them daily. I visited the salvation army store often and finally found three couches for 300 dollars to replace mine. I had to put my favorite ones in alley and it was really hard since I had mine for 12 years and they cost me 3600 dollars original. I miss them but my new ones are working well. In addition, a local church may need them and will want to buy slipcovers for them
