My almost 3 year old is allergic to most things incl. dairy and soy. You all know what a pain it is to get a toddler to eat but when his diet is so limited due to allergies, and he refuses his meals, it's super stressful! Does anyone know of a nutritional supplement like pediasure that is soy and dairy free? He won't chew vitamins so I need something he can drink. Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

My first thought was the gummy vitamin idea too. Costco stocks great multivitamins and also calcium vitamins (both L'il Critters brand) . These are what I give my kids. Secondly, I know your pediatrician can prescribe liquid vitamins that you can put in his drinks or applesauce. This would be easiest way to go. You can also research over the counter liquid vitamins and find what you want on the internet if you look hard enough .Start with the drug manufacturers and move on to vitamin websites. You should be able to get vitamins into your kid without too much trouble. Good luck!

I second the gummy vitamin idea. My extremely picky son loves them. You mention pediasure. Have you tried it? It is milk free. My son drank pediasure until he was 10. And he still asks for it. Check the ingredients but I remember being surprised by what I thought was in it and what actually was.

Are you looking for a vitamin supplement? Or just a way to add more nutrients (proteins, fats, fiber, etc.) into his diet?

You can try coconut or almond milk -- buy a brand this is fortified.

I find that doing smoothies as a "dessert" or a "shake" is a good way to help get more fruits/veg into my son. I use this recipe as a starting point:
* 1 cup milk (any kind will do, including almond or coconut) or 1 cup yogurt (you can get coconut yogurt at places like Whole Foods, I believe)
* 1 cup frozen fruit (we usually use 1/2 berries and 1/2 frozen banana pieces); but you can do peaches & mangos, etc.
* small handful of baby spinach or kale
optional:
* 1 T ground flax seed (more fiber & also has beneficial omega fatty acids)
* 1 T ground wheat germ (more fiber & more vitamins)
* 1 to 2 T honey or maple syrup or sugar or chocolate syrup

Blend all together in a blender until smooth. Serve immediately for a "shake" like consistency. Refrigerate any leftovers and consume within 1 to 2 days.
