Try motherwear, expressiva, and japanese weekend. JW used to have a store in the SHops at Willow Bend in Plano. They are really expensive though but VERY stylish.
Do any of you moms have any ideas for shirts that are easy to nurse in, yet slightly more stylish and fitted?
I got a few nursing shirts right after my daughter was born in July.
Now, I am back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, and the nursing shirts I have look like tents!
I realize nursing is not a fashion show, but is there a line of nursing wear with a little more style???
Thank you for all of the helpful ideas about clothing. I will check out Target and Japanese Weekend- although I'll definitely be looking for their sales!

I know expressiva stuff is cute and motherwear has some cute things too...but honestly I just put a man's a-line undershirt (aka wifebeater) under my regular shirts. The armholes are very long and you can leave the undershirt tucked in and pull the armhole in (so your breast is coming out the armhole) and then pull up your regular shirt and voila, homemade nursing shirt!
If you can sew, this site shows some really nice nursing shirts that aren't too hard to make. http://www.sewing.2ya.com/NursingB.html
after spending all the money on nursing shirts and blouses, I figured out that it is just so much easier and more fashionable to just get regular shirts and lift it up if I needed to nurse. It's not like I whipped it out whenever, I was descreet about it, but if you are going to be secreet about it, why not just lift it up anyway. The blanket still covers everything.
By the time I had my second one, it just didn't matter anymore. The first one you always go all out for.
I got the "goddess" tops from Expressiva (online) and I love them. They are flattering and discrete. I got a couple of their other shirts and was less impressed, but they have a good return policy. Two words of caution: (1) the colors on the website look nothing like the actual clothes so I stick with brown and black - I got a shirt that looked like a beautiful deep bluish purple online and it turned out to be lavender. (2) The opening that crosses in the front isn't so great because babies pull down on the front part and leave you with a boob hanging out. I recommend the nursing openings where you pull the top layer up and a second layer is left covering your midriff. Have fun shopping!
I'm not sure where Flower Mound, TX is, but if you are ever in San Antonio, I would try Chic Mama off 1604 and Blanco. She has some really nice, fashionable nursing shirts, and when they go on sale they are great. I even bought a nursing shirt from there after I stopped nursing because it was so cute.
Oh, also I bought a nursing tank top (i forget the company name, something like Glama wear), which is a really nice nursing tank top and would wear it under some shirts, that way I could lift the shirt and just bring down the breast side of the tank top.
Hope this helps a little,
L.
I used to wear button-up shirts or if you are back to your pre-pregnancey weight, I just lifted the one side and let my daughter nurse that way. I didn't want to spend alot on clothes not when I could wear my normal clothes and just use a blanket for covering.
JT,
There are several options. Japanese Weekend Maternity carries a line called D&A(during and after) and the Bebe Au Lait/Hooter Hider nursing covers are awesome.
Check out www.bloommaternity.net and go to the page dedicated to nursing. There are several options.
Enjoy your Holidays with your new little one.

Try Isabella Oliver.com, I got many great things there.
With my three, I found the best to wear were shirts that were either easy to unbutton or to just pull up. I had light wieght blankets (made by my aunt) that were longer and wider than most blankets that I just draped over my shoulder and the baby to provide some coverage. With some practice, once the baby was latched on, the blanket could be remove with the baby and my clothing hiding pretty much eveything. With all the tv and movies out there, a breast doesn't cause much excitment.
I never experienced any negative comments from anyone and I nursed everywhere.

I highly recommend Japanese Weekend as well. They are pricey, but their clothes are WELL worth it. I've never been more pleased with nursing/maternity wear (and this is my 4th pregnancy, still nursing 15m.o.). Also, a lot of their pieces have multiple ways to wear them (like the 4-in-1's) or have different accessory pieces.
You might try the Blush topless undershirts. They gave a layered look and then you just wear your pre-nursing shirts over top. topless undershirt comes up to the bottom of your bra and just lift your regular shirt so the baby can nurse. Good luck!
I don't know about any good fashionable clothes lines, but if you want a cheap nursing tank with the bra built in, they have them at target for about $16 instead of the $40 ones I've seen online. They are comfy, great for wearing to bed, around the house or even out in summer. Right now I wear them under a regular shirt when it is colder out.
I like motherhood - especially the "faux-wrap" style tops. I'll wear them long after I'm done nursing.

Motherhood Maternity and most of the other "specialty" maternity stores usually have great nursing tops. You can go to their websites, and sign up for their email notices when they are having sales.
My son is 2 1/2 years old now, and the bra's that are fitting me best right now are still my nursing bras....but I couldn't nurse him....Go figure!
Good Luck, and Congratulations on the Baby!
Hello there!
You could try "Young and the Restless" new and gently used boutique off of Ella... nursing shirts and children's clothing and toys galore.
There is also a place in the village called Motherhood or motherworks...
Good luck!

I would get some plain spahetti strapped fitted tank tops that you can wear as an undershirt. You can pull the top part down, and between the tank and the shirt you are wearing, you are pretty covered.
They make nursing tanks that will fit under your shirt, if you want to go that route. It is just cheaper to buy the regular tanks, and seems to work the same to me.
Hopefully that made sense.
I just wear all my regular shirts I wore pre-preggy and I have a nursing cover. I think its called a hooter hider.
Motherhood.com has some really nice stuff! :-)
Hi JT! I thought I might put my two cents in on this one, because no one has mentioned Expressiva nursingwear. I absolutely LOVED this line! They are the only one I found where there are actually two layers that arent sewn together. So when you lift the top layer your side doesnt show. You can actually use this clothing with no or little cover. And super cute - you would never know they were nursing tops. www.expressiva.com
I sure hope this helps, it IS really hard to find cute nursing clothes and this was my favorite site.

Don't you love those nursing shirts!! Haven't found many cute ones but I've been buying regular shirts with a low V-neck & then wearing a cami underneath so I can just pull it all down to one side and nurse her. I use a coverup but this way I can get nursing much faster than trying to deal with flaps. My daughter was born in June & A friend gave me a really cute cover up called a milk mumu. Here is the link http://www.milkmumu.com/
I love it! Use it all the time!
So far my favorite nursing shirts have been wearing thin bra with a camisole under a regular shirt. Then I can lift the shirt up & just pull the bra & cami down (which I do first if I'm out-then lift the shirt so you stay covered!) I did get some nursing tanks (Target-abotu $16) but I never use the nursing part-I just pull them down over one breast & I often wear the nursing sleep bra (abotu $10) which is designed to be pulled down. Here is the link to it at motherhood but I bought mine at babies r us.

Hope this helps!!
Someone may have already mentioned this website (I am responding from the daily email summary), but motherwear.com has some more fitted choices for nursing wear and they are not too exorbitantly priced.
I did have some trouble with one or two shirts - they were tank tops and the shoulder straps were uneven and the neckline a little gapping. But, that was a good 18 months ago...so the quality could be more consistent. (I finally started making my own - if you sew, I'll be happy to share the ways I modified patterns.)
Good luck finding clothes!
Feel free to email me off list if you want to talk about easy ways to modify patterns and WalMart t-shirts. : )
One more thing...you have probably already thought of this, but you could layer a nursing tank (maybe from Motherhood Maternity or the equivalent) with a regular top. That way, when you nurse your daughter and "raise you shirt", you are still covered. : )

Mom to Quint (20 months)
I think I am in the same situation! Recently I went to the Motherhood store and found a few shirts for a semi decent price. But if you look at some of their designs, you may find that there are some styles of shirts everywhere that are convenient for nursing. At least that is what I have found.
Mother of 23 month old boy and nursing 13 week old baby girl with a wonderful husband and father.
Unfortunately, nursing shirts seem to be much like maternity wear. Most are not very attractive unless you want to spend a lot of money. I brought a couple of cute fitted nursing shirts at Japanese Weekend Maternity in Willowbend Mall. Not cheap, but it's nice to have one or two that you can still feel good in. http://www.japaneseweekend.com/
Some mentioned motherhood.com. They also have stores in the Willow Bend mall and the Stonebriar mall. I was there on Saturday and they have some cute trendy clothes for nursing and they are pretty reasonably priced. One of my favorite items is a nursing tank top, it is a nursing bra built into a tank top. I wear mine all the time and love it.
I just wore my regular clothes after I was back to regular size. You might have better luck finding a nice cover.
