What a milestone,thanks for sharing!
About a month ago I posted a question about speech therapy in 2 yr olds and how well it worked but oh my gosh my daughter has been in speech for a month now and her speech has blossemed(spelling not right) a ton! She is trying to say more words and the other day she said HOME out of the blue! I am so happy that she is FINALLY starting to talk and be able to tell us what she wants better then at the beginning of summer. i CAN NOT wait to see where she is in 6 months from now. BUT to stay within rules, has anyone else had as much success with speech therapy as we have? Granted she is not saying words perfectly BUT she is trying her best and saying atleast one or two of the right sounds in each word.
ADD: at the beginning of summer she wasa not talking AT ALL, in july she started saying momom da granmomom steve(grandpa) please juice tea. this month she has started staying home yes up down no and whatever else you ask her to say and even more trying to say i LOVE it.

I often joke what the heck was I doing taking my son to speech therapy for 5 years!!! He didn't speak until he was 3 years old and now as a 6 year old he NEVER stops talking!!! hahaha I feel like he just follows me around jabbering! It's amazing that despite the significant delay he has completely caught up to his peers and nobody would now guess that he had a delay at all!!
Speech Therapy was GREAT and I'm SO glad that we used that service. I can't imagine where he'd be without it and also PT and OT. Love hearing that your daughter is doing so wonderful! Keep up the good work Mama! Her success isn't just b/c of the therapy it's b/c of you as well!! Love it! :-)
Aawww, what a nice post! I've worked with many speech therapists, it can be a VERY frustrating job. They would be SO pleased to read this post!
:)
My two oldest were in speech therapy. My daughter started at age 4 and had an almost immediate improvement. She only needed it for a year. I started my son at age 2, and it took him a lot longer. He had a home speech therapist for the first year, and I don't think she was that great. He hardly progressed. Then when he turned 3, he aged out of early intervention and I had to send him to a preschool through the public school so he could receive therapy there. Again, I feel that he didn't make that much progress with that particular therapist. He was there for one year, at which point I transferred him to a different school. He finally started with a phenomenal therapist who helped him tremendously. He was with her for two years and speaks very well now. He just started kindergarten and is going to be evaluated by the new therapist there to see if he even needs speech therapy anymore. I am thrilled! My youngest just turned 2 and he speaks so much more and so much better than the other ones. I'm hoping he won't need therapy at all! Best wishes!
We haven't done speech therapy, he's been evaluated 2 or 3 times and always comes up as the very low end of normal. But lately his speech has just EXPLODED.
"Mommy you're BUGGING me! Mommy leave me ALONE!"
WHY was I so eager for him to talk in complete sentences again?
I notice changes the most when he's gone to Grandma and Grandpa's for the weekend and then comes back-- the couple days away allows me to see (and hear) him with fresh eyes when he comes back!
