Ok, I'm 33 weeks 4 days pregnant.(34 weeks Saturday). Anyway as yall may know the test came back positive for down syndrome back in the end of march. Went to a high risk doctor the 1st of April that confirmed the baby looked good and that we were expecting a boy. The high risk doctor wanted us to come back again July 1st and everything looks good still. He measured good. They said he weighs about 4lbs 5oz.(as of 31 weeks 2 days) He wanted my obgyn to do a non stress once a week because of blood pressure. He wanted me(the high risk dr) to come back in again July 29 for another ultrasound, etc. Well last week started the non stress test. The baby's heart rate was in 180's but it drop to nothing and had to find it again because he was moving. Well yesterday was the same thing. His heart rate was in the 160's and drop to nothing again because he was moving. Of course I drank coffee earlier that morning which explains why he was active for. Well the other girl told the other girl that I needed to be laid flat on the table then I got light headed. They did a sugar test which came back as 89(which was good) They think because I laid down to quickly that I got lightheaded. My mom think it was my blood pressure medicine that i'm taking.They told me not to drink any coffee before I come in Thursday. Anyway they wanted me back again Thursday(tomorrow)? She said they wanted me back 2x a week because of my blood pressure. I'm on blood pressure medicine 2x a day and yesterday my blood pressure was 120 something over 72. My iron as they mention before was low. I'm on a prenatal w/ the iron in it and a iron tablet. This will be my 4th kid and 4th C-section. The high risk doctor said everything from the placenta to fluid was good. Nobody seem concerned that this is my 4th C-section. I guess the question is why do they want me in 2x a week if everything looks good and the blood pressure is good? Is it they concerned the baby may have down syndrome and that's why they want to do this test? Is it because this is my 4th C-section and they are worried? He already scheduled a C-section for 38 weeks. Has anyone had this problem? or similar?

It sounds weird to me but I've only had one child. I'd just do it. I know when they did the nst on me n they laid me back I became really light headed and nausea set in. I couldn't lay back. They also had a hard time finding and keeping the heart beat because she moved around so much
Its Your blood pressure and it can change very quickly. Just be glad you have a doc with the knowledge and experience to recognize what you need.
Let him do his job and most likely everything will turn out well.
Everything looks good now, and they just want to make sure that everything STAYS good. I was induced at 38 weeks for blood pressure issues as well, and had to do them weekly. I was always happy to have them, as it just reinforced that everything was still going fine. Congratulations on your little boy, I hope the next few weeks are quick and uneventful for you!
It is likely to monitor your blood pressure. My SIL was induced with my neice because of her blook pressure.
Everything looks good,and they want to keep it that way.
I had a high risk with my first since it was a multiple birth. I would say that they want to make sure everything looks good. For a high risk pregnancy, things can change very fast. And with my first, I was about 25-26 weeks pregnant when I decided to go to the store for something to read. I was bored out of my mind. We did not ahve cable. Due to the heavy snow that year, I missed the curb and fell. I went to get checked out. At one point, a nurse had me lie flat on my back. My blood pressure plummeted to 88 over 55 and I got very lightheaded. The doc told the nurse to never put a pregnant woman flat unless absolutely necessary since this can happen. The baby puts weight on everything. I was able to take the stress tests in a recliner. And lots of times in all my pregnancies that the baby moved so much they had to keep searching for him or her.
They want you back because of your blood pressure. Out of control blood pressure can be dangerous to you and your baby. If the docs were concerned your baby had Down Syndrome they would have told you. The medical community does not keep secrets. Best of luck for a safe delivery.
I was at the dr once a week from 28 weeks on. for high blood pressure. and I had non stress tests every week. it is a pain.. but it is all good.
the drs don't want something to go wrong.. so they do all they can to make suere the baby is safe and healthy...
Twice a week for 4 weeks doesn't sound too bad. It will be over before you know it. And if they want to monitor, go with your doctor's advice.
With my first, I was in for non-stress tests twice a week for the last 2 months because of my blood pressure. It wasn't so bad that they had me on meds, but bad enough that they wanted to monitor it.
Try not to worry about it. These tests are very routine and completely safe for the baby and you. Just try to enjoy that half hour (or however long) listening to your baby's heartbeat :)
Here's the thing about your blood pressure. If it's a concern, it could quickly become life or death. My sister had the worst kind of pre-eclampsia and had they not taken her blood on a Tuesday, they wouldn't have seen the spike in whatever marker they were looking for on Thursday when she got suddenly and violently ill. This pregnancy they have her monitored like nobody's business. She was told she was an hour from being in the ICU herself with organ failure. So I'd let them to their monitoring and hopefully you will be at your c-section date with no problems.
Its better be safe than sorry. Even though things look good its bette to check twice a week etc. i also had a high risk pregnancy last year & actually failed NST so had to get level two ultrasoynds twice week. Haf a nice plump 10 lb 11oz chubby baby boy!
