Light Street Animal hospital is cheaper (I made the switch a few years ago). The # is ###-###-####. They are on Light Street in south Baltimore just after Fort Ave.
I just can't go to the Falls Road Animal Hospital anymore. they are so incredibly expensive, and I was there for TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get a heartworm test and a check for worms [for the new dog]. And yes, I had an appointment. While I know they have great care and they will always be my go-to for emergencies, I need another city vet with reasonable prices and a reasonable wait time, and less sense of entitlement. Any suggestions?
I have a year-old puppy and a very naughty cat, and with the baby on the way money is going to be very tight, very soon. I appreciate any help I can get!

I started going to Falls Road 5 yrs ago when they used to give out coupons for free exams when you got the shots. Since then the coupons have disappeared and they have gotten too full of themselves and a lot more expensive. 2 of my cats choose the first week of April every year to start peeing and pooping on my floors. Last year with a toddler and new baby, I was at my wits end and I took them for their yearly and spoke to the doc about it. She ran tons of expensive tests which showed nothing and suggested I get a human antidepressant for the cats (which I didn't do, I just couldn't see going into Walmart and requesting the med for my cat). I went back a month later and specifically requested a vet experienced in behavioural issues. After waiting for 2 hours (usual wait is 1 -1 /2 hours) he told me that he was not a behaviourist and ran more expensive tests, then told me to put the litter box in the middle of the living room (not going to happen with 2 kids). Well here it is April again and they are back at the bad behaviour. I don't want to go back to Falls Road so I am glad you posted. My mom goes to Timonium Animal Hospital and likes it, but they are pricey. The bagger at the grocery store raves about his vet that comes to his house. I'm going to get his name when I see him again. Send me a message if you want his name. Let me know if you find a good place...
we live in the city but go to a vet in clarksville, triadelphia. it's a hike but they are great. i have heard good things about ardmore, which is in the ednor gardens area.
and i personally don't think falls rd does great care--they have techs doing things that only docs do in other locations. i think they are best for emergencies. good luck!
I ended up switching vets for a similar reason but a different vet. Friends and I really like the Lutherville Animal Hospital on Seminary. Their number is ###-###-####.
Hi H.!
Wow, you're going to have a house full!! Good for you. I've been using Pulaski Veterinary Clinic (right before Costco) on Pulaski Hwy.###-###-####. Wait times are hit or miss some times. I've waited 20 min to 40 min but I really like them. They'll tell you what it's going to cost & you can pick & choose what you can afford. Also there's a vet on Eastern Ave., right by Kane St. I used them when I didn't have transportation & they did the same thing. I told them we really had a tight budget & they told me what shots we needed right away & what could wait.
Good luck!!
We go to Hunt Valley Animal Hospital, but they are expensive too. Several friends of mine use Timonium Animal Hospital and are very pleased. Good luck! N. B.
Try Light Street Animal Hospital in south Federal Hill. Dr. Trujillo is wonderful!
Also, there are local chapters of the MOMS Club in most areas which is a great support group for SAHM if that is what you are looking for...
Hi H.,
I used to work at the Mt. Washington Animal Hospital, which was right around the corner from Falls Road. I hope you don't take offense, but Falls Road is one of the worst places to take your animals. I heard so many stories about people taking their animals there for a routine examination and - like a disreputable mechanic - Falls Road would say something is wrong with the animal and they would need costly surgery. Even worse, a couple of animals have died due to negligence while under their care. To me, Dr. Hammond is not a vet at all: he's just into politics and uses his license to get his name out there.
Anyway, I really hope I didn't upset you with this. The Animal Medical Center on Sulgrave is relatively good, and if you're willing to travel a little more, Eastern Avenue Animal Hospital is great as well. I also like the Lutherville Animal Hospital on Seminary Avenue, but I confess that it's been awhile since I've been there, and I don't think my doctor is there anymore.
I hope this helps.
