New to the area...ideas for 6 Yo Daughters Birthday?

Hello.Just a thought...little girls love to do girly things like a day of beauty with Mom- hair cut, nails painted...You could always find a Chuck E. Cheese for some indoor amusement games, and pizza. Maybe even take her to a Build A Bear store in the mall and make a stuffed animal together. You may even take a trip to a museum- The Museum of Science, The Aquarium... Maybe even get a family photo taken to remember her special day, and commenerate your move as a family.Or ask her for suggestions...sometimes they just want to paint/color or do something crafty...or even cook/bake together. I'm sure you will find something..If not ask another Mother of someone your daughter is friends with/becomes at school for suggestions..or even just have 1-2 friends from school over to celebrate (even for a few hours). I'm sure she will love and enjoy anything you do. The whole point is to make it special for her anyway you can. Hope you have a great time!

Hi A., I am from Malden,which is a town over from Melrose. I am a stay at home mom and have 2 daughters ages 5 and 2 1/2. My older daughter starts kindergarten also. There are many awesome places to go with your family in this area. I know it would be hard to invite kids from her class that she does not know yet. If you look at Familyzip.org or bostoncentral.com they are websites that have all kinds of ideas for family activities. A big thing around here is apple picking and there are many orchards to choose from in the area. Check out the New England Aquarium or the Childrens Museum. As far as a party for your daughter, wait until she is at school for a bit and when she establishes friendships with some of the girls, host a little "tea party" for her new friends as a "thank you for be-friending me in my new hometown" party. how old are your kids? there's an indoor playspace in Woburn I believe (it's in some industrial park).. you could check the prices out and see if you could invite the girls from her school.. it may not be that expensive.. there's always ice cream parlors who do parties - bowling is usually not too bad either. just keep it simple.. if you want to host it at your house, just do make your own sundaes (much cheaper) or cookie decorating.. and it would be a great way for you to meet the parents of her classmates! While my little girl is only 7 months old, I work in an office with many parents of 3-7 year olds and they are always sharing stories about things to do around town with their little ones. I hear that the Franklin Park Zoo is fun, and also there are things like Belkin Lookout Farm in Natick, MA. They have apple and pear picking, train rides, a story teller. There are also petting farms in the area that you can find by searching the web. I think the petter farms with rabits and baby goats are a sure winner with kids ages 3/4 and up.

If she is rather girly, you might want to consider doing tea at one of the fancy restaurants in Boston. I know the Ritz had a lovely service, it is now the Taj (you can call and ask). The couple of times I've been there, I've seen little girls there with their mothers. They are all dressed up in their fanciest dresses, and it is just very cute and fun. They also serve hot chocolate instead of tea.

The science Museum on Friday nights after 5 pm is only $1....you could take a few friends there and experience Boston as well.....There is also Salem Willows....its an arcade type atmosphere and there is a cute park ..... they also have ferry rides...she might like that....there is the DUCK tours in Boston as well....You can call me for more Ideas...I am a mom of 4 from California.....just 4 years here now....but I was the same when I got ____@____.com

My 5 year old thinks it is very cool to be taken out with just mom and dad alone. We did this one time, and I don't think she'll ever forget it. I have three children, so I got a babysitter for the other two, and we took her out on the town. You could have an early dinner and cake with the other kids and then take her out afterwards. That way you wouldn't have to stress out over who to invite, etc. She would probably love to go to the movies or you could try build-a-bear, which is in the square one mall in Saugus(close to you). Whatever you do, a night out with just mom and dad is perfect for a 6 yo girl. Have fun!
