You can call "1st call for help" it's an organization that can refer you to all types of programs. I believe the number is 211 but if thats not it you can call 311 and they will give you the number. I believe you have to call from a land line. If you need food there is a program called fare for all. Anyone can purchase from them, they sell food in packages and they are inexpensive. Basically the state buys food in bulk and resell it cutting out the middle man and over head costs. The website to go to is fareforall.org then follow the directions. Hope this helps.

i am at the other end of your situation, i am about to become a single mom and have an 11 yr old. she is in the 6th grade and we live in the hopkins area. i do know that Fairview hospital i think in plymouth down hwy 169 is hireing (some of my friends that do medical coding just got jobs there, but this is a new location so they may have an opening for your field. if sometime you would like to meet to get coffe let me know, i have two jobs but always willing to make new friends.

Have you tried PLAYWORKS? they are connected with Mystic Lake Casino. I don't know if they are hiring or not but it would'nt hurt to try. They are a daycare, event facility. When you work there you receive daycare at half price and they provide busses that transport children to local schools. They also have Great benefits. The phone number is 952-496-play. You could check out Fraser.org for possible job. I'm not sure if they are in need but it's a great preschool-you might even be able to bring your daughter there for before school depending on where you live. There is a K-5? kitty corner from Fraser too so another possibility for her school. Good luck & welcome to MN!

as far as birth control goes... check out planned parenthood...without insurance it would be the cheapest place to go. if I remember correctly the do a sliding fee scale, same with pilot city health care center.

I also agree with the other mothers about planned parenthood being your best bet for birth control. they DO having a sliding scale, based on pay.

You can get birthcontrol from any planned parenthood with insurance or without they might have a sliding fee if not. That's where I get mine.

You can get MN healthcare either Medical Assistance or MN Care

I would put a ad on craigslist for childcare in the mornings you could probaly find another mother who'd do it for a reasonable price. I myself am looking for something like that to bring in extra money. I live in Burnsville
