New Milford Nursery/Preschool Recommendation

Hi there,

As the school year draws to a close, I wonder if anyone in the New Milford or Brookfield area could recommend a preschool or nursery school that they just love. And, if possible, it would be great if you knew when enrollment usually begins for your fave (like the december or January before or something like that).

Thanks in advance!

C.

We use the Children's Center in New Milford (just off the Green), which is wonderful, and they have a part-time nursery school program in addition to full-time child care. I'm not sure when the enrollment begins, but if you're thinking for this fall, I'd call them ASAP. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck, and welcome to the area!

C.,

My kids go to Country Kids in Brookfield and we absolutely LOVE IT!!! My daughter started in the preschool program and will now continue with Kindergarten there!! The teachers are AMAZING and wonderful and they teach SO MUCH! My daughter is 4.5YO and is already reading small things, adds and subtracts, etc. I totally recommend them! My son will be moving into the preschool program this fall and then he will also continue there with Kindergarten as well!

I do know that a lot of parents take their kids out for the summer....so June is a great month to try and get yours in or even call. Otherwise, I think, during the school year there is a wait list. Here is their website so you can check them out too. I also want to mention that they are not commercialized like Kindercare. This center started with 3 or 4 moms 20yrs ago and they continue to run it.

Hi C.,
We love, love, love Prince of Peace nursery school in Brookfield. My daughter just finished her second year there last week. She went for Prek-3 and Prek-4. They are absolutely wonderful there, so much experience and they are so loving. I got warm fuzzies from the first day we went. Some of the things they offer that other preschools don't is when the weather is bad they don't get to miss out on recess. They have a separate motor room for the kids to play in so they are not cooped up in the same classroom all day. Also, they go to a separate music class and science. I've enjoyed getting to know lots of the other moms too. It's not just saying hi at drop off and pick up. I could go on and on. I'm so sad that she's done there and off to kindergarten. One last thing, we live on the west side of Danbury and it was so worth the drive to me. Good luck in your research.

I've lived in New Milford since 1987 and I think its a great place to live and raise kids (I have two girls, pretty much grown now). One went to Little People's Nursery School, which is a preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. The other place I would recommend is the day care/ preschool run by and located in the Methodist church, which is across the street (route 7) from John Pettibone Elementary School. Good luck on your move and welcome to town.
