New Microwave

As many of you have seen, my dd has fried my microwave. I am now on the lookout for a new microwave. I need a built in microwave. I'm going to check consumer reports (where I start all my research), but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great too. I'm looking for stainless steel or black. Thought I would go check out the sears appliance outlet at Grapevine Mills. Has anyone had much luck there?

TIA.

What can I do next?

Sears is not the company it once was, check their stock it is down to below 1/2 of what it was worth just over a year ago. ($180 last year to $80 this year)

If they stay on this path, I would not be surpised to see it go bankrupt in the next 5 years.

But that is not what you were asking. The Sears outlet in Grapeine is a "scratch and dent" store. It is referbs that have been sent back because they were not working correctly. Very rarely do you find small items there, and when you do they dont last long. I agree with the other responder that said the clearance section is a much safer place to start.

I love my Advantium by GE. It fit in the slot of my built-in microwave.

It acts as a microwave AND a second oven. It cooks with light, microwaves and convection. There are two different powers you can get. The high powered one (the one I have) cooks up to 8 times faster than a conventional oven. It is small for an oven - the size of a microwave. It doesn't require pre-heating which is huge. Chicken nuggets for 2 take less than 4 minutes from frozen to on the table. Since it cooks like a real oven they are crispy not rubbery like stuff from the microwave. It also has regular microwave buttons so you can use it in a traditional microwave way too.

The price will give you a heart attack but it really has been a huge time saver for us. We cook nuggets, fish sticks, french fries, rolls, casseroles . . . so much more frequently now . . . even for lunch because it's as fast as a microwave but with oven quality output.

we went to the sear outlet in dallas/addison area and had much better luck just looking in the clearance sections of lowes and sears - though we were looking for a dishwasher and not a microwave - i did see quick a few black microwaves so it might be worth checking - i know the sears at collin creek has their clearance appliances down a hall near the portrait studio - the prices in the clearance sections were much better than at the outlet - good luck!
