New Kids on the Block Cruise... OK to Splurge or C-r-a-z-y??

I am 30 and a HUGE fan of NKOTB since I was a tween. I went to my first concert (ever!) 3 years ago to see them, when they reunited. It was the best time of my life. It took 10 years off me...

They are no longer performing around me, so in order to go see them again, I'd need to fly out, pay for flight, hotel, tickets, etc. But they have an annual cruise that is going on sale today and will likely sell out in a few hours.

The cruise is EXTREMELY high priced (about $1000 p/p for interior state room... 4 day cruise from Miami to private island and Bahamas). I live in FL and know the cruise prices fairly well, as I cruise often with my husband. However, this cruise is special because its NKOTB ALL THE TIME! They perform nightly... and have interaction with their fans all day. In my mind it would be a BLAST to be with other fans, same age as me and going through same life situations as me, and just letting loose.

Not completely loose, but FUN loose:-)

I have 4 children and a husband and feel selfish "splurging" on such an outing, espeically without my husband (He would like to go, but we think it's too overpriced for both of us to go... plus 4 days of screaming fans is not his idea of fun LOL).

What are your thoughts? I'd especially love to hear feedback from other NKOTB fans who woulod like to go and how they are rationalizing their decision.

Thank you!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I could not find rational in spending that much money on a cruise and felt selfish spending what could be money for a nice family vacation for a selfish weekend of fun (even though a part of me feels I deserve it.)

HOWEVER, they are coming to Orlando this July and I DID purchase a 5star VIP package, which includes meeting all the guys (for like 2 nano-seconds), getting a group picture, and a seat within the front 10 rows of the concert.

Comparing what floor seats were going for, I got a great deal and am OK with spending the $$ :-)

OMG!!! My friends and I all got together last year and went to see them in concert here in Nashville!!! We ordered t-shirts and went ALL OUT! I'm also 30 (almost 31). It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUN!!! I researched the NKOTB cruise last year! I think that if you can financially swing it, it would be AWESOME for you to experience! I don't think doing something like that is "selfish" AT ALL! After all...we only live once ya know? And I highly doubt they'll be doing these annual cruises for too much longer. =0) I say go for it and have TONS OF FUN for me, too!!! Tell Donnie he is STILL super smokin' hot!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I was so going to marry him!!! LMAO

CRAZY! But you only live once. I've seen men drop a grand on new golf clubs and women spend 4 grand on breast augmentation, so, it's no crazier than that. As long as all needs are met, your disposable income is yours to save, invest, or blow as you and your husband see fit, I guess. I once contemplated spending $600 for the Maxwell - fortunate package. I would've gotten to go to a champagne reception backstage at his concert, vip all the way, with a whole bunch of signed memorabilia, pictures with him, etc. I didn't do it, but boy I wanted to. It's fun to be a fan sometimes.

I'm 31 and also a die hard fan. I convinced my sister to go with me to their concert for my birthday back in June. Super, super fun. I can only imagine how fun an actual cruise would be. If you can swing it and have the money to go, I would definitely say go for it! I sure would if I could. Hope you decide to go and have lots of fun! If you do go, let us know how it was. :)

If you can afford it, GO! Sounds like an amazing experience. I know if Duran Duran ever did a cruise like that, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Just promise DH that he can take a special trip of his own at some point, so it's a trade off and there's no resentment. Have fun!

My friend went, spending more than you would because she had to fly from Seattle! She is going again, said it's completely worth it!! She too mentioned that you get to spend time with them, which I think is priceless ;)

if i had the money, I'd go! I'm also a huge, longtime fan. I met Donnie a few years ago and can't imagine being able to spend a few days with him!! But yes definitely go with girlfriends, I don't think many guys go and even less actually want to go..lol have fun!!

I'm also 30 and have been a fan since I was a tween too! It's seems like this is something that you would really want to do for yourself. If you can afford it and your husband doesn't mind you taking a 'vacation' without him...I say do it! I would love to see them in concert at some point! Now, if you do go...you HAVE to tell us other NKOTB fans all about it!!!

Have fun!!!

if you have the money.... if Hubby has no problem with it.... if you are not underwater in debt or bills.... and Hubby can take care of your children with no problem or no work/schedule conflicts... then, why not?

Sounds fun.

Does the price include meals etc.?

So you'd be going by yourself? With friends?
Well, that would not be my first choice of ways to spend 4 days of my life or a thousand dollars, but the point is--if it's YOURS, then GO for it!
