I think you should just do a google search for cheap kids clothes/baby items. I've stumbled onto some good sites doing that. One that immediately comes to mind is thredup.com. Good luck & congratulations!
Hi, we are in the process of adopting an amost 2 year old and a newborn (born in Nov). We have nothing for the newborn and are in need of clothes for our older sweety. Anyone have a good idea for free or used baby items? Gotta luv those hand-me-downs.

The best place ever is the Salvation Army. If you hit it right they may even have a 1/2 off sale. Since you would wash anything you get I strongly suggest them.........the best bargains in town and the best kept secret around!! Good luck and congrats
It's very easy to find baby clothes at Goodwill or Red White and Blue Thrift or whatever they have in your area. at that age they outgrow without wearing out their clothes. Also get the word out to neighbors friends coworkers and I'm sure you'll find someone looking to get rid of stuff. When I adopted I bought all the big stuff at yard sales or got from neighbors. CONGRATULATIONS
Look at second hand sales like Just Between Friends and things like that. I've found that most of the clothes there are in better shape than garage sales, etc., but garage sales are good places to look too. I think you can find lots of other baby items like toys and swings and stuff for good prices there. Craigslist is another good one. I think if you start telling everyone you know that you're looking for this stuff it will start coming in. Everyone who has a friend who's getting rid of something! Hopefully one of your friends will give you a shower and you'll get some goodies there too! ;) Also, most stores like Gap and Gymboree, even Target and Wal Mart are having sales on summer clothes right now. Go and stock up if you know their sizes (sometimes kids from other countries are smaller than our traditional sizes here, so see if you can get height and weight). I've found that although Gap and Gymboree are higher priced their clothes last longer and look better for longer. You can always find sales there, so it's worth looking!
Congratulations on your two babies!!!!
Congratulations....
Freecycle.com
Craigslist.com
Contact your local church - they may have someone who is getting ready to donate or they have a "clothes closet"
Go to your local Good Will or even a Thrift shop - you would be surprised at what you find in there...
Hopefully - a family member will throw you a baby shower as well to welcome the new children to your home!
If you log on to Freecycle.org, you can not only see what others are giving away, but you can post a WANTED. You would state WANTED: 2 year old and newborn clothes near X town; willing to pick up. It helps to give a little info -- probably exactly what you stated in this post. Then, cross your fingers and hopefully people with items that match your needs will contact you directly.
Hope this helps.
GOOD LUCK with you new bundles of joy!!
Goodwill stores.
Craigslist or some such website in your area. My kids LIVED in hand-me-downs. Even if we had more money, don't think I would have spent it on new clothes. :) Also, garage sales, they have TONS of baby clothes-most with tags on!!!
Craigslist!
Ask everyone you know with kids if they have any stuff they'd be willing to part with.
I would help out but we have a baby on the way this winter ( don't know sex of baby yet.) and most of our stuff is girl stuff since that was our first born, so that would put us out also. sorry and best of luck to you! Have you tried garage sales, thrift stores, or craigslist?
I would love to give you things, but i only have a girl, and you're too far to send large items. I hope local people who are close will be willing to help you out. Those two babies are so blessed to have you!
freecycle! People are always giving away baby things!
Craigslist always has lots of kids stuff, some free. Are they girls or boys? I have tons of girls newborn stuff to size 2 that my daughter outgrew. Some never even used. Also have high chair, play yard, and a cute pink bouncer that I would sell for a reasonable price. The clothes i would give for free and the never or barely worn ones for very cheap. Msg me if you are interested. I'm in the OC area.
Ebay, Craigsist and ThredUp.com (a swapping site) all come to mind, along with Goodwill and the Salvation Army. I purchased TONS of stuff on eBay for two of my granddaughters when they were born from designer velvet dresses to tops and leggings to onesies to sleepwear and got hundreds of dollars worth of items for under $75. My DIL also got over $500 worth of items for about the same price. And I've recently seen "lots" of baby and toddler clothing listed at excellent prices on Craigslist.
Is your almost 2 year old a boy? If so, what size clothing are looking for? I have some things you might be able to use and live in Buena Park. PM me if you are interested.
Also, since you'll be adopting a newborn possibly a friend or two will want to throw you a baby shower? You could get lots of items that way.
Don't forget to check out garage sales, you can find most everything for little ones there for a tiny fraction of what you'd spend on new.
Last, but not least, take a look at stores like Children's Orchard that sell used clothing and furniture,
~ Kids 'n Things @ 1824 N Placentia Ave, Placentia, ###-###-####
~ and Mothers Secret in Orange, 726 N Tustin St, ###-###-#### (this store has TONS of stuff to sort through, go when you have lots of time! There's so much stuff you can't get a stroller through there, but you will save $$$. My sister and i went last week and found some great deals for our guys, back-to-school clothing for her son, training pants and DVD's for mine, and she went back to purchase a stroller/car seat combo for a friend of hers who is expecting any day now. The owner is a doll and knows where EVERYTHING in the store is, just ask her.)
Hope this helps, God bless : )
~Just remembered that in your question a few nights ago you mentioned social workers. They can be of help in resources and referrals until the adoptions are final so do make sure to ask them.
try goodwill. they have reasonable pricing and you can find some really cute things. also garage sales. there are also some websites that you can google about swapping/free baby things.
Check out thrift stores - you can get great deals!!
I recycle my kids clothes and purchase gently new clothes at an online clothing exchange. And, it's super easy.
