My nephew (9yrs old) and my niece (5yrs old) are coming into town and I have a 3yr old boy. Do you have any ideas on what we can do together for a few hours that does not cost a lot of money, but is FUN! My budget is $25 per person.

Hello I am a Aunt and I spend my time with my Nephews and Nieces by taking them to the park or play in the backyard. I would suggest to get some board games if you don't have any got to the dollar store and get some coloring supplies. Very reasonable price there.
We would play ball or run around at the park. If it is cold and raining you can do arts and crafts stuff together.
Especially at the age of 9 they rather play video games. Try to interest them in doing stuff together instead of seperately.
Thank you
Liz

If you'll have other adults with you to help supervise, we always loved packing a great picnic and going out to the tide pools at moss beach. So many neet things going on just under the surface.Warm jackets/layers and a cozy blanket to snack on, fun for all ages although you'll probably have to carry your own child unless you stay near the edges.Coyote Park in San Mateo/Burlingame has a great wildlife museum as well as fun playgrounds and picnic areas(also a really excellent place to fly a kite)You could always go to the S.F.Zoo,little kids love animals!Have fun!

$25 per person is a great amount! You can get a year long membership to Zeum in SF and get a couple of guest passes. You and your 3 year old can have fun for more than 1 day. You can make movies, videos, music, art, claymation, etc. It's a nice big space to run around and super kid friendly. (zeum.org)
Or the Cartoon museum on Mission in SF has cartoon workshops where children learn how to draw and make cartoon strips. (cartoonart.org)
Have fun whatever you decide!

Pier 39 is always a great place for kids, whether from out of town or not. I know it is touristy, but it is fun for kids. We just went to the aquarium there with my 3 year old and he loved it. it isn't too expensive. You can see the sea lions at the back of the Pier, there is a carousel for younger kids. You can take the cable car to make it fun, too! Best of luck.

Terra Mia is a great place for kids of all ages to paint ceramics. The cost is mostly based on the piece of ceramic that you choose to paint.
Also, I would look online at the public library website. There is always a fun event going at different branches. It is amazing what they offer for free! Levi's Plaza is a fun place for a picnic and the new kids playground in Golden Gate park is awesome. Good luck! ...K.

Try the Discovery museum in San Jose and pack a lunch and snacks, or Santa Cruz board walk or walking around San Francisco. Pack lots of special treats for lunch so it won't be as tempting to eat out.

Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab is a hidden treasure in Santa Cruz. Very reasonable and not crowded. http://www2.ucsc.edu/seymourcenter/

Chuck E Cheese is always an easy inexpensive way to entertain the kids. They have a deal that you can get tokens when you buy a pizza and drinks.
