Need Pediatrician Recommendation - Richardson/N. Dallas

I'm expecting my first child in late August 2009 and looking for a pediatrician. I am hoping for someone just like the one I grew up with who was more about healthy living and prescribed medicine very seldomly. He also didn't think antibiotics were necessary except in extreme cases. (I took some for the first time this year!) I live in Garland, close to Richardson and work in North Dallas. I'm fairly new to Texas so any recommendations are appreciated!

Thanks so much to everyone for all of the great advice! I am hoping to make a final decision this week and will let you know how it goes.

I like Willowbend Pediatrics in Plano. They have a good group of physicians. All of them are great!

Hi K.,

I've switched pediatricians three times and have finally settled on Inwood Village Pediatrics - specifically with Tammy Kennedy. I like to do my research and be taken seriously and they do that. I am conservative in regards to treatment - I'd rather learn how to prevent an illness that need to have meds to fix it - and they are of the same mind set. The office staff is great and nurses are very consistent. Good luck in your search!

My daughter also sees Dr. Kennedy at Inwood Village Pediatrics and I LOVE her! She's great. I second her. :) Good luck!

Dr. Debra Burns and C. Victoria Shinn are with Clinical Pediatric Associates on Walnut HIll across from Presbyterian Dallas. They have been my kids only pediatricians for over 16 years and I have nothing but great things to say about them. (They used to have their own practice and did not take insurance and we went to them even then because of the standard of care. They have been with this practice for about 3 years.)

Love Steven Crow at Arahapo & Floyd- ###-###-####

You can always go in and "interview" peditricians you're interested in before your baby is born- that's what we did.

We absolutely love Dr. John Porter in Richardson on Arapaho and Floyd (West of 75). The office is not too fancy but he is fantastic. I just had my first baby in March so this was all new to me, too! He is just like the doctor I grew up with. In fact he is in the same building as my doctor was. Good luck w/your search.

I would recommend Dr. Porter or Dr. Crow. They are at 1112 N Floyd Road in Richardson. Dr. Porter is Suite 10 and Dr. Crow is Suite 7 or 8. I work in the building with them and I know they are both great (and conservative) doctors.

Ask you OB/GYN for recommendations. That's how I got my pediatrician, and I couldn't be happier.

I took my children to Dr. Albert Karam. His office is in Richardson. He has a great rapport with children and parents. He is wonderful.
