Hi S.,

I have a twist to Jan's game. When we played this at my friend's shower, her husband's answers were video taped. It was really funny to see him verbalize his thoughts and her reaction to it.

Also, if it seems like your games are taking too long and you still have extra prizes, I always used a timer and randomly let it go off when the bride is opening her gifts. Whoever's gift she has when it rings gets a prize.

Have fun.

I, personally, LOVE the toilet paper bride that Lois mentioned. I have done it at so many wedding showers and I never get tired of it. Never actually used scotch tape though.

Another thing that you can do is go buy a set of the small Playdough with different colors. Distribute one container to each guest with an index card. Have the bride leave the room for about 3-5 minutes. During this time, have each guest make a sculpture of something wedding or bride/groom related. Then they can display it on the index card. Have the bride come back and choose the winner. It's fun and everyone gets pretty creative.

I do Passion Parties for a living and sometimes I run the games at bridal showers and bachelorette parties. I do bridal bingo (you can buy one at a party supply store or make your own online), how well do you know the bride (create questions that guests answer about the bride. Most correct answers wins), I play something called "The Dirty Mind game" (describe something that sounds dirty, but really isn't. Guests have to guess what it is. Most right answered wins). I can e mail you some of them if you want. If you need any fun ideas or toys for your bride let me know. I can send you a catalogue or you can order online as well.

I've prepared this game called "Name the Bride" at two bridal showers and it was quite engaging for the guests. It takes some planning on your part, but the guests have fun when they play it. Basically, you tear out magazine pages with pictures of brides on them and paste pictures of various politicans on top of the brides' faces. I actually glued each of the magazine pages onto thick cardboard paper since the pages were flimsy. Examples of politicans I used were Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg, Newt Gingrich, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, etc. You can mix in obscure politicans and ones that most people would recognize..whatever you want. I found a lot of the policians' pictures on the internet. The object of this game is to have the guests name as many "brides" correctly as possible. The guest with the most correct answers win. To make things harder, I had the guests name both their first AND last names correctly (spelling did not count) to get the point. Oh, and don't forget to number each of the pages (nice and big somewhere on the front) so that it corresponds to the numbers on the answer sheet you pass out for them to fill in the names with. I had about 10 pictures. Good luck with the wedding shower!

Toilet paper brides--break into even groups. Each group gets 2-3 rolls of TP. One of each group is a model and the rest of the group creates a wedding dress from the TP. Scotch tape is ok but no other embellishments. The bride or bride and groom pick the winner following the "runway" fashion show.

Rice and pins. Fill two or three pie tins with uncooked rice and add about 20 smallest size gold safty pins. (# of tins based on the size of your group.) With eyes closed (no cheating) each person tries to pick out the most pins. This is much harder than it sounds. The one with the most pins wins. The person to the right of the "pin picker" can hold and count for that person. Really fun!!

S.,

For my wedding a few months ago, we did the "grab bag" (I don't know the actual name, but that works):

Put a hodge-podge selection of clothes into a large bag (we used a laundry hamper). Apparently, the uglier the better. After blind folding the poor, poor victim (the Bride-To-Be), Have her put the clothes on. Make sure to have tops (slip on and button ups) and bottoms (both skirts and pants) and a bra (the WAY wrong size is most fun!). Make her pose regularly to make sure the crowd gets adequate pics of her. My group then enlarged one of the shots to have on display at the wedding (our was a Ranch wedding, so it was slightly informal, so the picture worked well), of course, the bride would have to have a great ability to laugh at herself, and the wedding can't be too formal for the last part to work out.

Good Luck, and congrats to the Bride-To-Be!!

At my wedding shower, they played a game with me...something called "How Well Do They Know Each Other?" The hostess had devised about 10-12 questions, like "What is your favorite food?" and other questions. Before the shower, she talked to my fiance, asking the questions for him to answer and also for him to answer the questions with the answers he thought I would say. It was a lot of fun.
