Need Non-Judgmental Dentist

I haven't been to the dentist in at least 12 years. I've taken good care of my teeth, but I really should be going back to the dentist. I don't want a lecture on why I haven't gone, so I'm looking for a dentist that won't judge me. Also, I've noticed over the past two weeks that I've been grinding my teeth and need to get this looked at. I'm not planning on going to the dentist until after the new year so I don't have to pay a deductible now and a new deductible in January in case I have to go back a couple of times, so does anyone know of any at home tricks I can do to stop the grinding. I've been having pretty bad headaches and I think that is the cause. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Sam Patel, DDS in McKinney. I was in your shoes until a few months ago, Dr. Patel did not scold me, not even once. I hadn't been to the dentist in 10 years.

I love, love, love my dentist. I was TERRIFIED of dentists and didn't go for about 9 years either. He has completely gotten me over that fear and I now don't mind going at all! They give me the nitrous for cleanings and any procedures. He also does sedation dentistry if you're nervous about having any work done. He's in Dallas in the Knox/Henderson area - Dr. Joseph Miranda @ Travis Walk Dental Care. The # is ###-###-#### or go to www.rusmiling.com. Good luck!

I just got my night guard from my dentist for grinding. In the meantime, before it came in, I went to Walgreens and bought The Doctor's brand nightguard. It was not bad to wear at all.

V.,
Don't worry about the dentist. Just ignore them if they give you a hard time. If it is mentioned with a smile you can say something like, "I'm here now and appreciate if you don't give me a hard time."

Go to the drugstore and buy a mouth guard. The kind the kids buy that play football. I think you boil them and them put them in so that they form to your mouth. Might help if you can sleep with that.

Good Luck,
P.

We go to Dr Marcus Whitmore in Plano ###-###-#### . When my husband first started going there he hadn't been to the dentist in 11 years. They are not judgmental, you are an adult. They will tell you what should happen for the best dental care, and it is up to you to do it. Also, they will use nitrous gas for nerves...we both use it for our cleanings!
