Look for a smaller community bank or a credit union. You won't have the huge branch network but you're more likely to get treated like a person, not an account number.
Any banks out there with really good customer service? I don't need anything special. Just standard customer service. I'd like to be able to talk to a real person on the phone without a 15 minute wait. Any recommendations?

wells fargo and wamu are good just for simple checking never had any issues with the bank making errors or them fixing problems the merchants created either
We have been with Guaranty Bank for over 10 yrs now and get great service and they do have a totally free checking program and they offer lots of other services as well. I hope this helps.
I had B of A years ago and once they took over Nations Bank I could never get good customer service. We your Frost Bank and love them. They are a smaller bank than most great customer service. You can always call and get a person on the phone which is a nice change.
Been there, done that with BofA. They were a pain.
I've been really happy with WAMU since then. They have free checking with free checks, etc. You have to use their atms, but it's the same with BofA. It doesn't cost extra to use the tellers (unlike BofA) and they've been really nice too.
Have you looked for a local credit union instead of a bank?
I'll tell you who NOT to go with - Compass! They are still run like they are a small town bank.
Not sure where you are located, but if in Ft Worth, Hurst, White Settlement, Arlington or near Watauga I'd go with EECU. It's the Edcuational Employees CU, but you don't have to be an edcuational employee to become a member anymore. We've been with them 11 years and had nothing but fantastic customer service. www.eecu.org
We have been with Chase Bank for years. It was Bank One when we initially started out with them. I have never had any problems contacting them and they have a lot of locations all over the metroplex.
WaMuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Love it!
I don't know if you have ever heard of Southwest Bank, but I used to work for Bank of Am and left because I never really felt i was helping my customers....felt like i was pushing products and saying no...when you want to be giving other options and actually helping a customer. Southwest bank is a community bank. It is only in the state of texas and they have banks in saginaw, downtown fort worth, camp bowie, 820 and traillake, burleson, mansfield....not sure if any of those work well for you...but if it is customer service you are looking for and not product pushing and being overly feed....give them a try or stop into a location...the people are there to help you....hope it helps
I can also tell you our experience at a bank....WaMu...do not go with them. They have messed up our account so bad that a little over $1000 is missing from it and that has caused some major problems. Once we get everything fixed we are going to a credit union, I wil never deal with a bank again unless it is a credit union! Good luck.
