Need Help with Fundraising Ideas

S., I used to work for Qdoba and they have a fantastic fund raising dept. in northern Colorado. It's a sheet of really good coupons you sell for 5 or 10 bucks each. The beauty is that Qdoba only keeps 25 cents of each sheet which is easily the best fund raising opportunity I've heard of. I was always very proud of this when I worked there. Peace, S.

You could have an event at a local restaurant or store, or even your home. I know my sister did something like this a few years ago and they were succesful. There also may be a way through their web sight where the money will go directly to them Good luck!

My kids do a lot of fundraising. Really what works best is door to door. Put some postcards or 1/4 page cards together with the information about what you are doing and why. Add a snippet of pink ribbon and then go around soliciting donations. It works best to have a number in mind, say $2 or $5. Make sure you have some change. We did door to door through 2 subdivisions in one day and sold about 100 tickets last time we did a raffle. The thing about raffles is that you have to have a permit in most states. I think you'd be surprised at home many people are willing to help a stranger. Some will be rude but that's just some people and you will be getting so much exercise in preperation.

First of all, congrats on getting your fundraising started! Raising support for a worthy cause can be super rewarding. But obviously, if you're not an official non-profit, it can be really tricky finding a good way to build support for your cause.

One route you might want to consider: setting up a homepage for your group on a fundraising website. Having a group homepage online makes organizing and fundraising infinitely easier ... And though the majority of fundraising sites require you have official non-profit status, many good ones only require that you are a group - and will give you plenty of the tools you need.

For example, one good site is Meet Up (www.meetup.com), who allow you to fundraise directly to your account, and register a group without having an official non-profit status - and they cover groups around the world, while giving you some tools to do event management. But the tools they offer are a little limited outside of fundraising.

Another good option would be Empowered.org (www.empowered.org), a platform that also helps small groups fundraise and organize (regardless of non-profit status). They also work for international groups - and offer a fair amount of useful tools, like the ability to organize your group or to create volunteer activities and fundraising campaigns for more targeted ways to raise support.

Or you could always try to send up your own PayPal account to link to you directly to help you fundraise, but this is a little trickier and a bit inflexible.

I hate it when people do this but it's for a good cause...I am doing this for another friend of mine for her son who has Duchene's MD. I am a Close to My Heart scrapbook consultant and I offer to donate my commission to her organization for all orders placed by her or family or friends. I give a code for her organization and if they order something through me, I will donate my earnings to you.

I know times are tough and people don't spend lots of $ scrapbooking but if enough people are interested you could earn some money. Or I can put something together for you to sell or workshop.

How about a big garage sale. See if you can get 2 or 3 more participants for your team,and clean out those closets and garages. You'd be surprised the money you can raise.

Hi, I think what you are doing is great. There are so many things you can do and I didn't read through all of your responses but I'm sure you got great ones. First off you should send an email out to all of your friends and family telling them what you're doing and why, getting their support is the best thing. Then asking them to pass along to their friends and family.
I sell Scentsy candles and we now do fundraisers. They have been pretty sucussful and they're a lot of fun. If you don't know what Scentsy is you're missing out! Briefly, incase you have heard of them, they are wickless candles. It's the safest way out there to scent your home. There are over 40 different decorative warmers and over 80 scents. They have plug ins now too which are perfect for bathromms and laundry rooms. The new scents and warmers come out March 1st. I will donate all of my commision to your cause which would be 25% of all your sales. If you sell $2000 that increases to 30% (which is $600). It's fun, it sells itself and it's easy. You could have all your friends and family sell to thier friends and family and you'd make that in no time! I lost my grandma to breast cancer and I would LOVE to be a part of this. My friend and I were going to do a fundraiser for a friend, but she ended up getting her medical expenses covered elsewhere. We planned a day at the park with finger foods and some local bands. We also talked to several of our friends who had businesses in the area for a donation to our slient auction.
I not know where you are located, but my father owns a gorgeous piece of property just outside of Longmont. He is starting to offer it for special events and he would probably donate the use to you for your cause. Email me if you are interested.

Thats great! I did the Team in Training marathon a few years ago and it was a challenge to raise all the money. One of my biggest money makers other than shaking down friends and family, was to hold a bake sale in front of Wal-Mart.

I made a few things and got lots of donations from bakeries including Panera, King Soopers, etc. They gave me day olds in a huge sack, I repackaged them and sold them in front of the store. I made over $400 in one day. Wal-Mart also ahs a limited matching program, so check into that, sometimes they will match $ for $ the funds you raise.

Some liquor stores will do free wine tastings in your house...and you charge a cover. Get Kings or Costco to donate some snacks.

I used to be a professional fundraiser, and my advice is to do something low cost, simple, and fun. Garage sales are great. Ask neighbors and family if they have anything they want to donate to your garage sale - people are usually willing to give you the stuff they don't need or want anymore, or are just to lazy to take to the di. Have a walk, roll, run race in your neighborhood. Charge an entry fee, see if you can get a local business to donate prizes for the first place, second and third in each category. Kids can ride bikes, walk, run, scooter, wheelchair - whatever. Bake sales are also fun. Or a pancake breakfast. Since easter is coming up, do pictures with the easter bunny in your neighborhood. Rent a bunny costume and have someone dress up. If you don't have a poleroid, use a digital camera and printer or have people pick them up later.
