my 16 month old daughter still drinks her milk out of a bottle. she will srink water out of her sippie cup, however, when I put milk in it she will not drink it. I have tried that nubby brand which is supposed to be like a bottle nipple, but it did not work. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

We had problems switching to sippy cups also. My in-laws were over the one day and my niece and nephew wanted smoothies so we ran out and got some and I sucked some of mine up in the straw and squeezed it and let my twin sons get that taste in their mouth. Once they had it, they wanted more, so they learend how to drink through the straw. That might be an option to at least get her off of the bottle, which isn't supposed to be good for hteir teeth when they are over 1 year old. We also used the playtex soft tip sippy cups and they worked great. I got my boys in the bad habit of giving them a sippy while changing their diaper because they started getting really fussy, so we do that when they wake up in the morning and from their nap and then at their other meal, they drink out of a straw. It really comes in handy if you are out traveling or at a restaurant and it helps because you don't have ot lug sippy cups everywhere. Good luck!

Hi, My name is W. and my suggestion would be to use the Gerber Transition cups-Yes they are a little pricy-$6 for 2 cups but my daughter started on them and loves them. You can buy them at walmart or offline

I swear by them~When I first started using them they were great-its an easy transition from the bottle to the cup~My daughter started using them at 8 months and hasn't wanted to even tried to drink out of a bottle since then~ The daycare teacher is even recommended them to everyone. Hope this helps, any questions~message me~Let me know how you make out

My first always hated the bottle so he was easy, now my second would not give it up, what i did was she could have her bottle but not with milk i put whatever she didn't really like in the bottle and would put all her favorites in the cup. so eventually she didn't want the bottle she thought of it as the yucky juice.

Hi B.,

My daughter wasn't ready until 18 months. At 18 months she was down to 1 bottle at night and not too much later I just hid them all so she only had her sippy cups to drink from. That actually worked better than I thought. When she had the bottles in plain sight she rememebered that is what she wanted but as soon as they were hidden she could care less - not even an "I want my bottle" one time!

Also, the lemon juice suggestion wouldn't work for my daughter because she LOVES lemon - hehe.

This may sound cruel to some people, but I have a friend who swears by putting lemon juice on the nipple of the bottle and they won't like the taste and will prefer the other cup you are offering. I have not tried it, but if you are desperate, it is worth a try.

Hi why don't you take her to the store and let her pick out her own milk cup. Tell her it will only be for milk. I did that with my daughter and it worked. Good luck I know this can be a real pain in the butt.
