I had the same issue with my first baby. I had the worst cramps, especially in my legs. My husband got used to leaping up out of a dead sleep and massaging my legs! What really ended up helping was getting a different prenatal vitamin. My doctor prescribed one with a little less iron (I'd had trouble with terrible morning sickness and the iron wasn't helping), and a little more B vitamins. For whatever reason, as soon as I switched vitamins I began having less morning sickness and fewer leg cramps. Maybe it will help you, too! I hope you find a way to get comfortable.

I think it is probably just a stage. I got cramps fairly regularly at that stage. Are you taking prenatals? It could be a shortage of potassium or calcium or even iron. Talk to your doc. Try eating ice cream, bananas or something high in iron before bed.
I would not take tylenol sleep or ambien without checking with your doctor, it might affect the baby.

Good luck!

Ask your doctor what you can do naturally, maybe some herbal teas. Be careful what you put in your body because you are in the beginning of the pregnancy. Maybe get some more excercise during the day so your tired, like just walking or gardening. Good Luck

I used to get cramps often when sleeping. I was told to try drinking more water. It worked :0) Hopes it helps you.

I think its just a stage and it will pass...in about 2 years....:- ) I had a TERRIBLE time sleeping while pregnant, and after baby was born I realized why I couldn't sleep. It was my body's way of training me for when baby arrived. Our body's are amazing and do everything for a reason. I wouldn't take any sleep meds while preggo. Tossing and turning later on in the pregnancy is a good thing. I was always worried of laying the wrong way and smashing unborn baby, so the tossing and turning and light sleep is another safety measure built in.

My advise is keep trying to get sleep, but it really is your body's way of preparing for your bundle of joy to come : - ) Congrats on the baby!!
